Dying Matters Week Aotearoa returns from September 1–7, inviting all New Zealanders to join open conversations about death, dying, caring and grieving.

Dying Matters Week is an annual, nationwide event, with activities planned across New Zealand aiming to support community conversations about death and dying, and remind us all that death is normal, natural, and inevitable.

One of the events we are offering is a panel discussion and Q & A on Demystifying Death.

Join us for an enlightening & compassionate session dedicated to demystifying death. This gathering offers a safe & supportive space to explore important topics that often go unspoken.

Let’s break the taboo surrounding end-of-life conversations and empower ourselves with knowledge and preparation.

There will be opportunities to ask questions and connect with others on this journey of understanding.

Moderated by Dr Lea Galvin, Clinical Services Director at Nelson Tasman Hospice and Clinical Psychologist.

Panelists are Dr Amanda Fitzgerald; Senior Medical Officer, Emily McDougall; Clinical Lead - Palliative Care and Helen Butler; Consultant Clinical Psychologist.

This is but spaces are limited so please make sure you reserve your spot: https://www.eventbrite.co.nz/e/dying-matters-week-demystifying-death-panel-discussion-registration-1514295802509?aff=oddtdtcreator

Nelson Tasman Hospice is excited to announce the relocation of its Bridge Street Op Shop to a vibrant new home in the heart of Nelson’s op shop precinct – Op Shop on Vanguard.

Opening Saturday 16th of August, this purposefully designed space offers a refreshed and inspiring op shop experience, setting itself apart in a street full of second-hand gems. More than just a shop, it’s a destination for bargain hunters, treasure seekers, and conscious consumers alike – and now, also a centralised donation space.

It's a huge effort to move an entire shop from one location to another and we would like to thank all of the volunteers & hospice colleagues that helped (and continue to do so), Nelmac who helped us move some of the bigger items, WSP in New Zealand who lent us one of their team for a day painting, Mckenzies Painting Contractors who started us off with the big paint job in Bridge Street, and The Flooring Room Nelson for supplying us some off cuts for the donation space. It truly takes a community to make a hospice happen 🥰
