BROS Aotearoa Building healthy Men in a new age of Embodied Masculinity. Events & Transformational Experiences Brotherhood is the medicine. OM

Organic Mechanic serves to bring men's wellbeing and brotherhood to the forefront of our community as a medium for collective healing, initiation, and collective transformation. This online group serves as a place to connect and share in between seasonal/bi-monthly events at the time of Rākaunui (full moon). Our events focus on creating a safe container for men to connect, listen, share and learn

through cultural connection, healthy masculine energy, elder wisdom, and physical space where men can lean into their edge as we reckon as a collective with what lies within. Utilizing various processes and healing modalities such as breathwork, yoga, movement, sound healing, circles & more, we aim to address a holistic view of hauora/wellbeing (spiritual, physical, mental & emotional, social), in order to journey through our collective challenges towards understanding. In a time of increased isolation, systemic racism/oppression, and environmental violation, the call to create a space for men to share their emotions and feelings has never been clearer.

24 men came together at Karioi Maunga for a weekend of connection, reflection, and honest conversation.

With ages ranging from 20 to 82, we explored the theme of rewriting our stories - looking at the father wound, the roles we’ve been given, and what it means to be a man today.

Through daily sauna, breathwork, shared meals, and meaningful circle time, we created space to let go of old narratives and reconnect with ourselves and each other. Exploring the labels placed on us, the stories we’ve inherited, and choosing what we wanted to keep - and what to burn in the fire.

Led by Uncle John and supported by the land, every man left with a piece of gold. Something to carry home, integrate, and pass forward to his family, partner, community.

More men around more fires.

More gatherings on the horizon.

“Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery, none but ourselves can free our minds.”

Homage to the artist and prophet that is for sharing this potent message. The full article is written by Dave Lewis (Papa D), an elder in the BROS community. This is the first in a series of articles breaking down the wisdom of Uncle Bob.

Calling the seasoned leaders.
The visionaries.

The men who carry both the gift, and the burden of captainship.

This September, BROS activates a new kind of Masculine Vitality Experience, crafted specifically for high-performing men who are founders, leaders, and impact-driven visionaries. Men who are ready to reclaim their vitality, deepen their purpose, and step into sacred leadership.

If you’re one of these men - You don’t need another seminar.
What you need is a fire, some breath in your lungs, a cold river, and a crew of men who *get it*.

This one is for men who are building, leading, providing… but feel the nudge to slow down, listen in, and reconnect to what’s real.

Where Adventure Meets Brotherhood

Join us for 3-day immersive experience at Mangaroa Farms - an incredible 3000 acre nature playground featuring high level facilities for recalibration and transformation.

Where the experience of Outward Bound meets the kinship of brotherhood, and the care of a wellbeing retreat centre - This is where high-performing men come to expand beyond their limits.

We train, we reflect, we share food, kōrero, and stillness.

No fluff. No forced hype. Just honest, embodied work, held by experienced facilitators and elders.

It’s not for everyone.

It’s for men who are already thriving that want to shift to the next level — with purpose, integrity, and a deeper sense of self.

Leave clearer, lighter, more grounded — and with a circle of brothers who are walking the same path.

Hosted 12–14 September 2025

Mangaroa Farms, Upper Hutt

The Masculine Vitality Experience - our first “official” BROS weekend gathering.

Bridging the worlds of Outward Bound, transformational men’s work, and a lifestyle & wellness retreat for the modern man, 30 brothers young and old from across Aotearoa & Australia to join us on the grounds of , for a weekend of brotherhood, vitality and connection.

Fuelled by locally produced organic kai, based in a world-class outdoor playground, and gathered around the warm hearth of brotherhood, these men created a collective transformation and forged bonds for life. Over the last 6+ years of doing this work, we had not yet reached this kind of depth and scale we had on this weekend.

Blending nature adventure, ancient rituals, purification processes, the wisdom and guidance of Elders, and classic NZ brotherhood, this weekend held an energy that was grounded in the sacred, and yet full of laughter, and tears. It was evident in this energetic balance that our work as men is not to externalise spirit outside of ourselves, but to bring it back home to our beings, our hearts, and remember that life is about joy and connection with each other and the planet we call home.

The element of fire was deeply present with us over the weekend, and the home fire always remained lit. Many fires were sparked across the whenua - some in the depths of the forest, another, a hearth to heat the grandfather stones, another to beat drums late into the night, and more for the welcoming, closing, and burning of offerings.

In the words of Uncle John, Big Black Boar, our kaupapa discovered its true essence — to bring more men around more fires.
