Got to swim at the newly renovated H20 today, as someone who swims regularly, I have been absolutely hanging for this day and it did not disappoint!

This year, I had the amazing privilege of being invited as an industry expert to judge the Exercise NZ Fitness Awards!

It was super exciting to see the calibre of Personal Trainers in New Zealand and an honour to be able to participate in this amazing event!

A massive congratulations to all the winners, but a special shout out to my two fellow EPNA Ambassadors Kirstyn Campbell and Brooke Shepherd-Wright! Kirstyn deservedly took out Educator of the year and Brooke won Group Trainer of the year!

A special mention goes out to Abby Strong who received the ExerciseNZ Award for her services to the industry. We volunteer many hours to advocate for positive changes in the industry and Abby has been the EPNA leader and inspiration for the EPNA Ambassadors, working tirelessly to support each of the Ambassadors in their hubs. This award was well deserved, and a testament to the beautiful spaces she has helped to create through these connections.

Unfortunately I wasn't able to be there for the awards this year, due to a rather important event (my husbands allogeneic stem cell transplant) but I was there in spirit with everyone and super proud of our industry here in Aotearoa, New Zealand.

I can't wait to see what 2025 holds for us all!

Kia ora everyone! Just giving you an update on my current availability while my husband is in hospital, now that I have been able to get into a good routine.

Monday - Friday
8.30am - 10.30am

Monday - Thursday
3pm - 4.30pm

Please be sure to book your consultations early to ensure you get a spot!

I do ask that you only attend your appointments if you are well, you will be asked to wear a mask and use hand sanitiser prior to our consult as my husband starts growing his new immune system from the donor graft tomorrow, and he will be extremely susceptible to all illnesses.

Thank you for your understanding, I appreciate all the lovely messages we have received as we navigate this challenging journey.

With aroha (love)
Carol

Yesterday I had the great honour of being part of the Exercise NZ team (CEO Richard Beddie, BDM, Nikki Williams and Kirstyn Campbell) who presented at the Akau Tangi Sports Centre in Kilbirnie.

It was a chance to collaborate with others in the industry and connect with people across Wellington - we are always stronger together than as individuals! Being part of something which uplifts those of us in the industry is a huge passion of mine.

Exercise NZ has a mission statement which aims to get everyone in Aotearoa exercising, and being part of an industry that creates positive health outcomes for everyone is super rewarding!

I'd love to start collaborating with more people to deliver workshops and events for those of you who would like to learn some new skills or just how to navigate challenged mobility or health. I'll be popping a poll up to gauge the topics most relevant to those of you in our community, but please do feel free to contact me directly if there is a topic you would like me to cover!

Love this, one of my favourite things to do is help people see in themselves, the things others see in them 🥰 Sometimes we forget that even if we can't see our own super powers, that we are a super hero to someone in our lives - there is always someone who sees your strengths even when you can't!

The theme for 2024 for the Exercise Professionals Network is Ikigai - The concept of purpose or reason for being. This really made me think about what I do as a Coach and why I do it.

My purposes or reason for being is simple - to be here as a guide for others who want to live their life in a healthier, happier and more loving way so they can be the human being they really truly want to be.

Often the persona we create isn't authentic, we are moulded by what we think we should be or the expectations of others. My question today challenges our perception of ourselves and asks us to reflect on whether you are living your authentic life that aligns with your values as your own person.

Be curious, explore with intrigue and delight - and remember it is OK to not know your purpose or reason! Maybe today you simply spend some time thinking about the things you most love doing and why you love doing them. We'd love for you to share the things you love doing so pop them in the comments below!
