Maybe that's an unpopular opinion, but today, on my sons first birthday, I invested some time into me. Celebrated my body. Remembered. Grieved. Laughed. Let go.
Now don't get me wrong, we ate cake, we sang the songs, and gave his sweet cheeks lots of kisses.
But I didn't buy him any presents, he is so loved, he has everything he needs
But after a year of little sleep, tandem feeding, intense joy, rollercoaster emotions, and learning to balance 2 under 3, his Mama needed some time.
And I have no guilt.
I celebrate him, but I also celebrate our journey together
I believe it is a gift to our children when we take time to fill our cup whenever we can, when we show them that rest is productive, that we are worthy of self care.
You are amazing Mama, at their first birthday, remember that this is your birthing day too!
I invite you to look back on where you were a year ago, with compassion, sending love to some feelings and thoughts that you maybe weren't able to back then.
Reflection can be healing, and we are so lucky to have some amazing women who hold space for birth, debriefing, and nourishing rituals such as 'closing of the bones' to honour our journey
It is never too late. Celebrate them but celebrate you too
You can find some treats for honouring yourself in our beautiful giftboxes for our crowdfunding. 1 day to go!
