We’re so proud of our resident, Sue Edmonds, a talented writer whose work has been featured in The Seasons magazine and other publications. Sue recently celebrated the launch of her own biography, Thursday’s Child, at our monthly village morning tea.

Here she is (on the right) gifting a copy to our Roseland Park library — a wonderful addition for fellow residents to enjoy. Congratulations, Sue, on this inspiring achievement!

Construction at the new clubhouse is well underway at Karaka Lifestyle Estate in Auckland. Until recently, the building site was fully fenced off — but that didn’t stop one resident from keeping a close eye on the action.

Trevor (affectionately known as "Where’s Wally") became a regular at the viewing spot, often spotted peeking through the site window to check on progress. In true KLE spirit, Village Manager Christina joined in the fun by putting up a "Wally’s Window" sign and naming the spot "Wally’s Door".

Now that the fence and gate have come down, it’s the end of an era for Wally’s Door — and the beginning of something exciting. The new Clubhouse is looking fantastic, and residents are eagerly awaiting its opening very soon.

At Karaka Lifestyle Estate, the talented Maintenance Team is building a series of “sit-a-whiles” — charming little garden spots designed for exactly what the name suggests: sitting a while. Once finished and framed by growing greenery, these spots will be perfect for residents and their families to relax, chat, or simply watch the world go by.

Every three months at Roseland Park, residents come together for a day of friendly competition. Teams participate in a mix of indoor and outdoor games, accompanied by plenty of laughter, refreshments at halftime, and, of course, a prize for the winners.

At Roseland Park in Hamilton, the craft group recently put their talents on display, showcasing everything from scarves and blankets to sculptures, paintings and drawings. It’s a creative and generous group. In addition to their personal projects, they regularly knit woollen squares which are sewn into blankets, as well as caps, beanies and fingerless gloves. These are donated through a local church charity and sent to those in need, both locally and overseas, including places like Ukraine.

Plenty is happening at Karaka Pines Rototuna right now, and we’re especially excited to see the first Stanaway homes taking shape.

These homes have been very popular at Karaka Lifestyle Estate due to their spacious layouts, great entertaining spaces and modern style.

It’s a great milestone for the village, and we’re looking forward to sharing more as things progress.

At Roseland Park, chilly winter evenings are the perfect excuse to cosy up for a movie night. Residents enjoyed the latest films together with a sweet treat — an ice cream piled high with their favourite toppings!

‘The Red Team’ visited Karaka Lifestyle Estate on Tuesday morning with an informal yet informative presentation. Residents appreciated the information shared and had plenty of questions, which the team answered thoroughly. Afterwards, everyone enjoyed a morning tea and the chance to mix and mingle. The highlight of the visit was the big red fire truck, which they drove right into the Clubhouse Courtyard!

Wayne, a resident of Regency Park, was a computing tutor at the local polytechnic for 23 years before running his own computing business. Recently, he has reached out to fellow residents at Regency Park with important information about Microsoft ending support for Windows 10 this October. While computers will continue to function, they could become vulnerable to security risks, such as viruses.

Wayne has invested many hours securing the best local deal for residents needing to update their computers. He has also met one-on-one with residents to understand their needs and assist with setting up their new systems, all in exchange for koha to the village social club.

It is wonderful to have people like Wayne, who so generously give their time to support others and enrich our communities.

On a cold morning like today, it’s hard to imagine jumping in the water for a swim – but that’s exactly what Karaka Lifestyle Estate residents did on the 25th of June to raise funds for South Auckland Riding for the Disabled.

Friday night fun just got an upgrade at Karaka Pines Waihi Beach, with a brand new pool table now in the clubhouse. Residents enjoyed their first evening of games recently and stayed on well past the usual Friday catch-up.

The All Blacks supporters at Waihi Beach have turned our clubhouse into game day central! With a big Sky TV and plenty of food and refreshments brought by residents, it’s all about cheering together and having a good time.

Retirement here means living it up with mates who know how to have fun!

Easter Sunday at Karaka Pines Waihi Beach was one for the books! Robyn didn't have bunny ears like the rest of the crew, so she brought a carrot to feed the other hungry bunnies. A simple act that turned into the highlight of our day.

At our recent happy hour at Waihi Beach Village, residents showcased Kiwi ingenuity with a lively games afternoon. Alongside limbo, an innovative twist on curling took centre stage - using large ice blocks and a plastic sheet slicked with soap for the target. This inventive approach brought smiles and laughter, perfectly embodying the creative and communal spirit of Karaka Pines Waihi Beach.

Phil and Sue Tutty, newcomers to Karaka Pines Waihi Beach, have generously donated over 30 books to our library, significantly enriching our collection. In need of expertise to organise these new additions, Robyn Young (pictured sorting), with 15 years of experience as a librarian in Waihi Beach, stepped forward. Robyn, who aspired to be a librarian since the age of seven, has meticulously arranged and labelled every book, ensuring easy access for all.

Monica Lunny, a frequent visitor, enjoys delving into history and tales of places she's explored, such as Paris and Venice. Her passion for reading reflects the diverse interests of our community. Our heartfelt thanks go to Phil and Sue for their thoughtful donation, to Robyn for her invaluable skills, and to Monica for her avid readership, all of which enhance the vibrant life at Karaka Pines Waihi Beach.
