This is what success looks like for me. All home grown, raised and made with love. All of it perfectly imperfect. I'm still trying to master a good gluten free scone if anyone has tips!
It has been a long time getting to this stage and still a way to go for sure. I was saying to the kids today when we sat down to breakfast that for me, that was success...sitting down to all our own food. Bacon and eggs raised by us, home made sour dough with home made and grown tomatoes, capsicum chilli sauce. Home made scones for lunch with jam made by our own plums. Home grown roast pork, home grown and made lamb curry and home made flat bread and smoothies full of our own fruits.
I then asked the kids what success would be for them. Rio had a lot of "wishes".
I was then able to explain to them that for us to get to this plate of food in front of us, to this moment of success, it has been allot of hard work, patience, perseverance, sacrifice, time, learning and passion. But that this is how you get success. Not from just wishing and wanting something. That success isn't instant. That it can come in many ways. It was a great lesson for them.
We cannot wait to see 5 years from now what we are producing! Definitely a long patient game this one though. With a few extra challenges thrown in along the way. But gosh, the rewards are soooo satisfying. There really is nothing much better for me than being able to produce our own food for our family.
Now time to kick off the real vege garden! Watch this space!
