When I was doing my Master's in Health Management....we did a case study on the Australian Bowel Screening program. It costs $10mil approx for the Aussie government to run. They get approx 10% of the kits returned. But the amount of bowel cancer they pick up early saves the health system more than 10 million bucks in treatment costs.
Hence prevention and early detection is worth it for so many reason's!

I presented yesterday at the waihi beach breast cancer fundraiser on what you should be checking for on a self exam.

Did you know there are 12 symptoms to be aware of to keep your lemons happy;

1. Random dimple in the breast
2. The breast is oddly warm or hot (outside of breastfeeding)
3. There is fluid or discharge coming from the ni**le
4. Ni**le crust- can be normal... but if it's not for you, then it should be checked
5. A hard lump- often feels like a lemon seed.
6. A thick area of skin...this is a type of breast cancer.
7. Growing random enlarged veins across the breast and extending up to the collar bone.
8. Random Skin sores- sometimes cancer can grow through the surface of the skin and create a wound.
9. Orange peel type skin changes
10. A newly inverted ni**le or one facing in different direction
11. Your b**b randomly changes size or shape.
12. A bump on the surface of the breast.
