Ultra-Scan was first established in 1994 when a system using ultra sonic equipment was introduced to pregnancy test cows. The system that was developed is now a proven concept in the dairy industry and is still the preferred system of pregnancy scanning today. Ultra-Scan has developed through a strong network of franchisees through-out New Zealand and has expanded to offer a number of on farm services including disbudding calves, de teating, DNA sampling, EDI calf tagging, and in some parts of the country deer, goat and sheep scanning. As an industry leader we are now scanning in excess of 667,500 cows per season. 🐄 New research from the RVC into the effectiveness of sedation and any associated health impacts when disbudding calves has revealed a correlation with lower growth rates after the procedure.
