Prescription and dispensing changes effective 1st February 2026.

From 1 February, prescribers may issue prescriptions for up to 12 months, based on their clinical judgement.

However, pharmacies will continue to dispense a maximum of three months’ supply at any one time. Please note that this limit also applies when patients are travelling; pharmacies are unable to dispense more than three months’ supply at a time.

There is no change to the current requirements for controlled drugs (CDs).

Please ask our friendly staff if you have any questions regarding these changes and we are hoping for everyone's understanding.

Due to an influx of prescriptions in our inbox in the lead up to the holidays, please allow at least 72 hours from us receiving your prescription to collection. We always endeavour to send you a message when your medications are ready for collection. If you require medication urgently, please get in touch with our team or call on 04 2935200 and we will process this as urgent. Thanks all for your patience!

Just a reminder for our hours over easter. We are closed tomorrow 18/04, open Saturday 19/04 9am-4pm and closed Sunday 20th, Monday 21st. Open again normal hours from Tuesday 22nd.

Our christmas hours are as below. Please be advised that we are currently experiencing an increase in prescription levels due to the holiday season, causing delays. Best to call ahead of time for urgent prescriptions, to avoid the queues.

Sadly with the transfer of our lease we have to close our Unichem Waikanae Beach Pharmacy and merge back into our Unichem Waikanae Health Pharmacy, Marae Lane site from close of business next Friday 6th September 2024.

It's almost Wellington Anniversary weekend. We wish you all a lovely time with family and friends. Our hours are:

Saturday 20th 9am-1pm
Sunday 21st Closed
Monday 22nd Closed
Tuesday 23rd 8.30am-6pm returning to normal hours.

Please be mindful in this time, that longer than average wait times apply. We always endeavor to help you, as soon as humanly possible.

This week in the lead up to Christmas we are experiencing one of the busiest times we have seen since Covid lock down times. We have been receiving more than double our normal number of scripts, which is leading to longer delays, we are literally busier than your favourite takeaway shop on a Friday or Saturday night!

We are processing all scripts, however the delay is longer than many customers are used to, we are running at least 24 hours behind.

If your script is urgent, we will always endeavour to get this done as quick as possible, however we need you to let us know so we can process it quicker - you can do this by phoning us or popping in if you have been at the Drs.

It is not uncommon for us to give you a 1hr time frame if you have numerous items, our team is busy and need to be careful with all scripts to reduce any risk with all the checks that are made.

Please do not abuse our staff, we are all trying our hardest to get through this back log, it is already a stressful time of year, and we do not need any added pressures.
