Pegasus parkrun

Pegasus parkrun Pegasus parkrun is a free, weekly, timed 5k running, jogging or walking community event for everyone.

parkruns are free, weekly, community 5km events all around the world. Everyone is welcome- runners, walkers, wheelchairs, and joggers of all speeds. parkrun is a positive and welcoming experience where there is no time limit, and no one finishes last. Simply follow these quick and easy steps to join in:

1) Click the ‘Sign Up’ link above to register for free at (or visit https://www.parkrun.co.nz/register)
2) Bring a scannable copy of your barcode along with you. Don’t Forget Your Barcode
3) Head down to Motu Quay by Lake Pegasus near the swing bridge for the first timers briefing at 7:50am every Saturday (rain, shine, or frost).
4) The parkrun briefing starts at 7:55am, and the run starts shortly after. You will receive an email after the event with your results. Be mindful of the parkrun code:

1) Do pay attention to the pre-run briefing. Please do not talk during this time as others may not hear the important safety information announced by the Run Director.
2) Respect everyone’s right to participate in their own way.
3) Under 11’s must always be within an arm’s length of a parent or guardian.
4) parkrunners may not be accompanied by wheels on the course - unless they are wheelchairs or pushchairs. Unicycles, bicycles, tricycles, rollerblades, roller-skates, and scooters, etc. pose a risk to safety and are not permitted.
5) Dogs: We love barkrunners! But only 1 well behaved dog on a short leash per parkrunner. Dogs must be always under effective control - especially at the start. Retractable leashes and waist harnesses cannot be used for safety reasons.
6) Please keep left & be mindful of your local environment and other park users.
7) No barcode, no time, no exception. Please bring a clear, scannable copy of your barcode.
8) COVID-19: Please stay at home if you are feeling unwell.
9) parkruns are run by volunteers. Consider helping us to keep parkruns free, for all, forever by volunteering at an event.
10) Do have fun, it’s only a walk, jog or run - it’s not a race…

See you Saturday!

You finished between Owen and Luke but you didn't have your personal barcode and you must have forgotten you had the #78 Finish Token. It would be great if you can bring it back this Saturday

We're still in need of a couple of Volunteers for this Saturday.
A quicker runner, having finished their own parkrun, would be greatly appreciated as a Barcode Scanner as would a Corner Marshal - can you help out?

MAGIC MONDAY MOMENTS.
***********************************
I haven't done one of these for a while, so........
Let me introduce you to Andover parkrunner - Lance Mitchell.
To date, Lance has completed 558 parkruns at Andovee, another 13 here at Pegasus, and 18 at other UK parkruns. If my mathematics is still operating correctly that means that Lance is a mere 11 parkruns away from clocking up 600‼️
The 13 here at Pegasus consisted of 7 parkruns in his first visit from 16.12.2023 to 13.01.2024 and 6 from this visit 20.12.2025 to 10.01.2026.
During that time Lance has introduced many people to our Event and has also assisted by Volunteering as a Report Writer, our First Timers Welcomer and as an Elf on Xmas Day [we couldn't find Elf as a role in the available rosters so we credited Lance with a role that has enormous similarities 😁].
Lance has also begun work on a proposal to move Andover and Pegasus closer together. I'm reasonably certain that not even the Mightily Beating Wings of our namesake Equine Deity could physically move either Event any closer - so we will look less physical and perhaps more metaphysical measures.
Thanks Lance, for your involvement here, we appreciate all that you've done and will be watching for that HUGE parkrun #600 roll around for you.
Safe travels and we look forward to your next visit (when you will likely be approaching 700 parkruns 😲)

Pegasus parkrun event #467
RUN REPORT

It was another spectacular morning at Lake Pegasus for our weekly 5k adventure! Whether you came to sprint, stroll, jog, Slog, pace, race (parkrun is not a race.lol), the energy was high and the vibes were even higher. Some waited keenly by the Run Director as he gave his morning briefing. Others warmed up jogging around the lake already for a 2.5klm warm up. For me and my family we start at least 50meters away from the start line because of our barking dog Chase.

By the Numbers

This morning, we were joined by a fantastic crowd of locals and visitors. Here’s the breakdown:

Participants: A massive group of 221 walkers, joggers, and runners took to the tarmac.

First Timers: A huge welcome to everyone who chose today for their very first parkrun! You’re officially part of the family now—consider this your warning: it’s addictive.

Personal Bests (PBs): Congratulations to the many participants who smashed their previous times and earned a brand-new, shiny PB! Especially my nephew who beat me today.

Milestones: We celebrated several big milestones today, from Junior 10s to the big hundreds! Some of these efforts were definitely "cake, coffee and tutu" worthy.

Course Highlights

The lake was looking like a postcard, though the local ducks and geese were clearly in charge of the waterfront.

The Route: Two loops around the scenic Eastern loop of Lake Pegasus.

The Terrain: A reliable mixture of tarmac, a bit of grass and the wooden swing bridge—perfect for road shoes.

The Rule of the Road: A big shoutout to everyone for "keeping left." It makes the course safer and smoother for everyone.

Volunteers: Our High-Viz Heroes

This event wouldn't happen without the incredible team of volunteers who time, scan, and marshal us around. If you haven't tried on a high-viz vest yet, we highly recommend it—it’s the best way to see the event from a different perspective (and get a lot of "thank you")!

Post-Run Fun

As always, the real "marathon" happened afterward at the local cafe, where the traditional parkrun quiz tested our brains as much as the course tested our legs.

Reminder: Next Saturday is another chance to beat the couch (which remains undefeated but deeply unimpressed). Don't forget your scannable barcode! .

See you at the start line at 8:00 am!.

URGENT UPDATE.
READ THIS BEFORE YOU TAKE YOUR NEXT BREATH ‼️

We still need a TimeLord, a Keeper of Time, a Timekeeper because without one we cannot start on parkrunday and if we cannot start, then we cannot finish, nor can we anywhere in between 😲
