Yesterday for our literacy programme, we used story dice. You roll the dice and the items you get have to be in your story. The ideas in the story the clients came up with are amazing. I am so proud of them.

A bit of literacy fun today spelling words in a crossword. Lots of skills involved - listening to sounds and finding letters. Also some genius ideas putting in other letters when we ran out.

We were absolutely blown away! Yesterday Lisa and Tina from Property Brokers CHB presented us with an incredible donation of $6,600.00 We are beyond thrilled to have been chosen as a recpient of the recent 2025 Winter Olympics, an annual fundraising event organised by Claire Wilson and her wonderful team of volunteers.

This year’s event raised a phenomenal $80,000, with $53,000 going to the Lowe Corporation Rescue Helicopter, and several local groups also benefiting. This generous donation will have a lasting impact on our service, significantly supporting our annual budget. These funds will contributed towards operating our Centre van for the next twelve months—an essential part of our service that connects our clients to community facilities, local shops, services, medical appointments, etc. We also have a few other exciting projects on our wish list that this contribution will help bring to life!

We are incredibly grateful for this support, and words cannot express how much this means to us. A huge thank you to Lisa, Claire, and everyone involved in this year’s Winter Olympics—you are truly amazing!

A bit of craft on Thursday using felt as a background to make a scene. The clients made a plan which we used as a pattern. They then sewed or glued things on. We are so proud of them and the choices they made. Not one looks the same and they are as unique as the creator. They are backed and proudly hanging at the centre so we can all enjoy them.

We had a lot of laughter and fun playing some games today.

Yesterday we bid farewell to a wonderful member of our PHC staff team. Janet started volunteering with us first, and then became a paid staff member in November 2010. Over the years Janet has been involved with so many of the activities, out and about trips, cooking, baking, lots of gardening and flower picking at our old Centre, teaching people how to knit, and even a trip to the Gold Coast with clients several years ago.

Janet's dedication and contributions over the years have left a lasting mark on our service, and the lives of our past and present clients. Janet has not only been a colleague but also a friend, and a true example of what it means to support everyone at the Centre with heart and commitment.

Janet will always be a cherished part of our Paul Hunter Centre family and its not goodbye, but see you another time as Janet will come and visit us from time to time.

Thank you Janet for your many years of service, and we wish you all the best for the future - may it be filled with joy, relaxation and time with your husband and family.

And the finished work. So proud of our clients for completing their button trees. They look fantastic.
