This waiata has been sung on marae, in homes, and by generations of whānau across Aotearoa.

This iconic bilingual song “E Ipo” was written and sung so beautifully by Prince Tui Teka for his beloved Missy. Today my sister Keri and I sing it for all the whānau out there who are walking alongside their older loved ones as they journey through this stage of life.

We dedicate this waiata to the carers, the families, the nurses, the support workers, and all those quietly giving their time, energy, patience, and aroha to help our kaumātua and older people feel cared for, valued, and loved.

Prince Tui Teka was one of my idols growing up, and while I could never sing it like him, we hope to carry some of the warmth, beauty, and essence of this timeless waiata.

Sending love and tautoko to everyone out there doing their best for the people they love ❤️

Happy 25th Birthday to my beautiful kōtiro, Diva Jones Harawira ❤️

I really loved singing Te Aroha (our first recording) with you and I can't wait untill your back in Aotearoa to record some more waiata with your papa.

This video is when you were just born 25 years ago, starting in Moira st Ponsonby, Titirangi then Kumeu where you took your first steps and sung "Twinke twinkle" at 4 years old.

From a young age, you always showed leadership. Watching you grow into the wahine you are today, especially with the effort and dedication you’ve poured into your Tasman business, has been inspiring. As your papa, that makes me incredibly proud.

Mahi rangatira! Wahine toa, Feminine but fierce 💪💃🧘‍♀️☮️

No matter how old you get, you’ll always be papa’s kōtiro. I hope this year brings you happiness, success, love, and all the good things you deserve.

Aroha mutunga kore, Papa

This new rōpū at Man Alive - Tāne Ora is a 12 week kaupapa mostly made up of men referred through the Drug Court system, focused on men in relationships.

But before we can build healthy relationships with partners, tamariki, and whānau, we first have to rebuild the relationship with ourselves.

Then we learn how to build healthy relationships with each other inside the rōpū.

This space is not about one man standing above another.
It is about men standing beside each other.

Every voice has mana.
Everybody learns differently, but we grow together.

This is kotahitanga.
This is mana restoration.

We learn that emotions are not the enemy. They help us create, protect, love, and connect. But when the emotional mind runs unchecked, we often repeat the same cycles of violence, addiction, broken relationships, illness, and pain.

So together, we learn another way.

We learn to pause, notice patterns, step out of autopilot, and strengthen the wise mind instead of letting the wounded child steer the waka.

As facilitator, I may bring the kaupapa, the stimulus, or the wero, but the wisdom belongs to the collective.

Each session begins with introspective work in the ngākau and hinengaro, then we move it through the tinana with breath, movement, connection, and mau rākau.

Because healing is not just something we think about.
It is something we practise together.

The goal is for these tāne to return to their partners and whānau with new mātauranga so they can be safer, healthier, and different from when they arrived.

Tīhei mauri ora.

Didn’t realise how much I needed last night. Good laughs, good music, and catching up with old friends Peter Urlich, Boh Runga, and watching my mate Stacey tear it up with the awesome 80s X-band.

Life can become all mahi if you let it. Last night was a reminder to live a little, kani kani a little, and make memories while we can.
