Introducing Dr Bronwyn Kjestrup
Bronwyn studied medicine at the University of Otago, graduating in 2019. After her junior doctor years at Dunedin Hospital, she began training in Rural Hospital Medicine, working across General Surgery, General Medicine, Intensive Care, and at Dunstan Hospital, before moving into General Practice. She has also spent time travelling and working in Emergency Medicine in Australia.
Bronwyn enjoys the mix of variety and continuity in rural general practice — balancing acute care with building long‑term relationships with patients. She has a particular interest in sexual health, including contraception, STI screening, PEP and PrEP prescribing, and supporting LGBTQ+ patients with inclusive, affirming care.
Outside of work, Bronwyn loves basketball, walking her greyhound, skiing, travelling, reading by the lake, and spending time in nature.
