"Your tongue isn’t just a muscle, it’s the starting point of a powerful fascial chain that runs through your entire body, travelling from your throat and diaphragm, through your organs and pelvis, and all the way to your big toes. When this chain becomes tight or restricted, your whole body begins to compensate, leading to issues like neck pain, jaw tension, TMJ problems, snoring, and even digestive discomfort.
Bowen Therapy has several techniques for the TMJ and can release tension creating equilibrium and restore balance throughout the whole body.

BABY BOWEN THERAPY!!!!
Bowen Therapy is extremely effective for babies. It is extremely gentle yet highly effective being a non-invasive treatment with no manipulation.

During birth babies nervous system can become blocked and the Bowen helps to rebalance this.

The Bowen moves are preformed on specific parts of the body, depending on the actual problem. A response is stimulated in the body mechanism sending impulses to the brain which communicates with the whole body allowing it to heal itself.

Signals are sent out through the nervous system and energetic pathways within the fascia, causing homeostatis.
Bowen works at releasing tension and is extremely effective on the diaphragm, where blockages are held when baby has colic.

Through releasing the fascia in the diaphragm breathing is aided, along with reflux, hiccups and the digestion process.

The baby becomes very calm and easily passes wind, or fills their nappy easily, during a treatment, as the fascia is released. Baby may fall asleep, stop crying, urinate and become drowsy.

In babies the digestive track is immature and sluggish and not as efficient as in adults, making it often bloated with gas. It is difficult to expel air if there are blockages and this can become painful.

Do you ever notice your baby has their legs pulled up towards their tummy, may be red face, crying or grunting, blue around upper lip? These are a good indication that the baby has wind.

Treatments for babies are less than 15 minutes and follow up treatments are recommended

Your tongue acts as a rudder and support system through a fascial line that runs right down to your toes!

In nearly all my patients, I see poor tongue posture, and the links to bad spinal posture, breathing, and other issues are felt right throughout the body.

The simplest way we can see how the tongue is so influential is how it supports proper head posture. When the tongue is down and forward, forward head posture and mouthbreathing occurs.

Over time this associates with a narrow jaw, crooked teeth, and sleep disorders.

But… you guessed it, as always the mouth is a gateway for so many other systems in the body.

The tongue is an extremely complex muscular and fascial rudder system.

It guides all the structures of the myofascial continuity that runs from the inner arch of the foot all the way up through the middle of the body to the tongue and jaw muscles.

Isn’t that amazing?

Actually the tongue is potentially more important for core stability than turning on your actual core.

Our core begins deep under the arch with the insertions of the tendons from the lower leg, especially tibialis posterior.

To find its insertion, feel just under the inside arch of the foot, just underneath and forward of protrusion of the navicular bone you can feel a bit over an inch in front of your tibial malleolus on the inside of your ankle.

This point will respond to a soft-but-energy-rich touch that is held, and also to a more firm and direct fascial release. Pressing here can make a flow of feeling run up the fascial line.

So for better core support, spinal, hip and leg strength, you need to work on your tongue posture.

During exercise practice sealing the tongue to the roof of the mouth, this turns on the fascial rudder to the toes. It takes time and you need to work on making the BACK of the tongue connect to the soft palate. More on this to come.
