Wow in the middle of a emergency some amazing person sent the Kowhai Surgery Ltd a beautiful valentines bunch of chocolates. We were quite overwhelmed by this gesture. Thank you. To all those volunteers, emergency services and general public looking out for each other, thank you for your Aroha and Mannaki. Sometimes it feels we give so little but can mean so much to an individual or whanaus that are in need.
Keep safe ask for help if you need it. Te arohanui.

This may be a medication update /repeat, regular medical reviews, follow ups, medicals for licences. This will allow us to see urgent cases that can not be predicted. Tamariki aged between 3-12 will be eligible for a free flu jab from Friday 1 July.

Flu infection rates are generally highest in children, and they’re a major source of the spread of influenza. The flu virus may be found in respiratory secretions (breathing, coughing and sneezing) for two weeks or longer in children.

All New Zealanders are encouraged to get protected from flu this year, particularly people who may be more vulnerable. Not only for yourselves, but for your whānau and community as well. You can find more information here: https://www.health.govt.nz/flu

You can book a flu jab for yourself or your tamariki at your GP or nearest participating pharmacy: https://www.healthpoint.co.nz/pharmacy/?serviceArea=im%3A460472

We encourage you to double check that the provider is offering flu vaccinations and whether you need to book ahead.

14/06/2022

Hi everyone. Due to staff shortages we are finding we are limited to appointments we can offer, especially on short notice.
Please if you are able to book ahead up to two weeks that will ensure you are seen by you usual GP and give you options on times.
We try to put urgent appointments aside to see acutely unwell patients, but these are also being used very quickly.
Please do not be offended if we tell you we have no appointments, if we can find you an appointment we will or we will get a nurse to call you back and triage the situation if seen to be urgent, and give you a plan and options.
This is not limited to Kowhai Surgery but the other local surgeries as well.
There are many viral flu like illnesses not just covid in the community at present. Please stay safe and stay home if unwell.
Things that help
Order or book doctor appt for scripts when 2 to 3 weeks left before you run out. This may not be possible for a small precentage of scripts but you will be advised in these cases.
If you know you need a Medical review or medical certificate for ACC WINZ licence work, think about booking in advance and please try not to leave to last minute. This will help you and us to meet everyone's needs.
Many thanks, The Team Kowhai Surgery
