In her 95th year, Jo passed away peacefully on 11th August 2025. Beloved mother and mother-in-law of Jenny and Mark, Bruce, Marion and Neil, and Bev and Garth. Reunited at last with her late husband Edgar. Loving Nana of 13 grandchildren and loving Great Nana of her 10 great grandchildren. Jo lived a full and wonderful life with lots of love, laughter, and countless treasured memories. Jo’s kindness, generosity, and quick wit will be missed by all. Organ Donation or Body Donation after Death

Organ donation isn’t the only option. In Aotearoa, some people choose to donate their eye tissue, which can restore sight even up to 12 hours after death. Others choose to donate their entire body to medical science, a generous act that helps train future healthcare professionals and advances research.

It’s important to know that you can’t be both an organ donor and a body donor, so it’s a decision that needs careful thought. Body donation also requires registering directly with a medical school while you're still alive. And because not all donations are accepted, it’s essential to talk with your whānau and have a backup funeral plan in place.
