Yesterday, at 40 years old, I ran my first World Major Marathon in support of men’s health. It wasn’t the smoothest run—my foot was sore, energy wasn’t 100%, but that’s life, isn’t it? Obstacles will always show up. The key is to persevere, to keep pushing, to keep moving forward.
Crossing that finish line reminded me why running connects with so many of us, it’s not just about times or medals. It’s about resilience. About showing up even when it’s hard. About proving to yourself that you can go further than you thought.
We raised funds that will go toward changing the face of men’s health, and that’s what I’m most proud of. On a personal note, I managed a PB, not the one I wanted, but a step forward nonetheless. Progress is progress.
To everyone who supported me. Zone Blue, Dalman physio, The Athlete’s Foot, Lululemon, Movember, Elyte, I Love Ugly, and to every person who cheered me on: thank you. This wouldn’t have been possible without you.
Rest now, then on to the next challenge. Because in running, as in life, the journey never stops.
