How true!!!
This is a tough year relocating and setting up new premises, delays from jewellery suppliers, NZ $ dropping against international currencies, shipping costs increasing, and now a new chain store opening in the Hutt and ultra cheap trainee piercings 7 days a week....Trainee piercers are not apprentices....they get a few customers to practice on, often including advanced skill piercings...Cheeks, Daith, Ni***es and then are let loose on the general public..with little or no further guidance, no understanding of cross contamination, not understanding variables on anatomy, proper piercing placement and size/style of jewellery, customer problems with healing....not asking a range of questions to determine/eliminate the problem..... and offering an Informed response that may make a huge impact..... I take time..as much as needed to provide a service for you, I do not rush you out because other people are waiting, I do not get paid by the hour or a wage. I pay for all disposable items, multiple gloves, saline, aseptic dressing packs, alcohol swabs, Skin prep swabs, autoclave packaging for ALL Equipment used, skin mark solution and sterile tooth picks, surgical l**e, rubber bands, corks ..and Needles...Sterile Packaged jewellery for fresh piercings and sold in sterile packaging.....all involve spending $ on these items and my time before and after the piercing is done. 10-15minutes for a quick cheap piercing service is not a game that I play.
My new location in Petone is still a bit ov a work in progress,,,, building up stock levels, and such like. The variety of jewellery tops, threading & sizes these days is overwhelming. and cheap asian made stuff I will not buy....British sourced items only.....which cost wholesale more, than the chain store shops retail price..in photos they all look the same... but the quality and metals are vastly different..... I stand by my "Suggestion" initial jewellery that is smooth with rounded edged tops, will heal more comfortably. I do not up sell customers to fancy gem cluster tops.....purchase them later. Also any shop, that calls themselves Professional Piercers, and offers Piercing with the "Cartridge System" eg The same horrid piercing stud used in a gun....for Lobes, Cartilege and Nostrils.... THEY ARE NOT Professional.
