Where it all started.

Our tenancy was one big empty space when we signed the lease. But the original rimu floors, huge windows and intricate detailing on the columns and architraves gave it so much character from the beginning.

We also had to carefully plan and build the float rooms to be soundproof, lightproof and saltproof 😅

Then came getting the float tanks into the building. The doorframes only had inches to spare on either side. Thank goodness for strong, experienced movers.

It’s pretty surreal looking back at the blank canvas we started with compared to what Float Well has grown into over the last 10 years 🤍

FLOAT WELL IS HIRING 🤍

We’re looking for one great person to join the Float Well team for our Sunday opening shift (8:00am–2:30pm).

This role suits someone who genuinely loves floating, is calm and people-focused, and takes pride in maintaining a beautiful, high-standard space. You’ll be responsible for opening the centre, welcoming customers, delivering orientations, cleaning, and general admin, so reliability and attention to detail are essential.

This could be a great fit if you:
• Have experience floating and understand our space
• Are warm, grounded, and sensitive to the energy of others
• Enjoy working independently
• Take pride in thorough cleaning and high standards
• Are reliable, trustworthy, and adaptable

Float Well is Wellington’s largest and highest-rated float centre, independently owned and operated for over 10 years. Some of our best team members have come directly from our community, so we’re excited to share this opportunity here.

Sundays 8:00am – 2:30pm
(Bonus if you’re able to cover additional shifts from time to time)

To apply, please email owner@floatwell.co.nz with:
• your CV
• your float experience
• why you’d like to join the Float Well team

Applications close Friday 5 June.
Interviews the week of 8 June, with training to follow over 2–3 weeks.

Know someone perfect for this? Please share 🤍

10 years in 🥳😮‍💨

I can still remember the day we opened. It was a Friday, we still didn’t have our final consents signed off, and we were fully booked that evening and the entire weekend ahead. Stress levels were through the roof. But we got there in the nick of time 😅

So much goes into building a brick-and-mortar business from scratch, and I can now admit how naive I was going into it. But if you know me, you know I’m willing to work hard, put in long hours, and get things done.

It’s been amazing to be one of the first float centres in New Zealand. We really did help pioneer this industry long before float tanks became trendy. I’ve always believed float therapy can change lives, as it has mine, and it’s been a privilege to facilitate that change for thousands of people over the years. I never take that for granted.

And business ownership is hard in ways most people never see. It’s 100-hour work weeks, sleepless nights, endless to-do lists, and a lifestyle where you never really switch off. But it’s also taught me so much, introduced me to incredible people, and inspired me to keep doing the mahi.

So thank you to all of my wonderful staff over the last decade, and to every single person who has walked through our doors and supported us. Small business is the backbone of New Zealand, and I’m really proud of what Float Well has grown into over these past 10 years.

Happy birthday to my first child, Float Well 🤍
Here’s to many more years of saltwater and good floaty vibes 🎈

What’s in a float tank?

🤍 600L of warm water (heated to 35°C)
💙 500kg of Epsom salt

The high salt concentration allows you to float effortlessly on the surface, almost like a buoy, half in and half out of the water.

For some people, it takes a few moments for the brain to fully trust that the body will float without trying… but we promise, it will.

A float tank is a really unique environment that can’t be replicated in the ocean, a pool, or your bath at home. That’s where we come in, creating the best possible float therapy experience so all you need to do is switch off and float.

Float Well turns 10 this month 🥳

What started as a small idea to create a space where people could truly slow down and recover has grown into something incredibly special.

Over the past decade, thousands of Wellingtonians have floated with us through stressful seasons, burnout, recovery, grief, growth, parenthood, training blocks, heartbreak, healing and everything in between.

Thank you for supporting us over the last 10 years and allowing us to continue doing this work.

We’ll be celebrating from 27 May with some special birthday float offers and community giveaways with some of our favourite local businesses.
