Autistic Masking....
"It’s hard to hold your real feelings in and pretend to be something you aren’t all day"
Thanks I CAN Network Ltd for sharing this post!
AUTISTIC MASKING....AT SCHOOL: Autistic masking is when Autistic people consciously or subconsciously hide their Autistic traits in order to blend in or to protect themselves. Masking can occur in Autistics of any gender, any age and in any setting.
At age 10, Autistic author Libby Scott (now 14) created this powerful image to describe the profound effects that come from masking at school.
Be gentle with your young person and give them space to engage in their interests or other calming activities after a school day or outing. They deserve our compassion, understanding and validation.
