The Force was with us this week! 💫

We were thrilled to receive an incredible delivery of Star Wars and other LEGO sets generously donated by Outpost 42 501st Legion and LEGO store Wellington, in celebration of the week of May 4th.

The sets were gratefully received by our team, including Megan Stothart, Play Specialist, and Lynne Cowley, Charge Nurse Manager, and are sure to bring hours of fun and imagination to our children and families here at Te Wao Nui.

A huge thank you to the 42 Garrison crew - an all-volunteer organisation that brings Star Wars to life through high-quality costumes and community charity.

For some children, hospital becomes a second home.

Zara and her little brother Zeke have both spent much of their young lives in and out of hospital, facing complex and ongoing care no child should. The physical and emotional toll of long stays and procedures on them and their whānau is what makes providing a simple pair of pyjamas so meaningful.

Through Jammies for June, you can keep Wellington kids like Zara and Zeke warm and well this winter by donating to help us provide cosy jammies to those who need them most. Bringing warmth and comfort to sick kids while they recover from unexpected hospital visits.

Donate online today at www.jammiesforjunewellington.org.nz 💛

Jammies for June is here- and we need you! 🫵

As the colder months set in, many tamariki supported across our regions hospitals and communities don’t have access to the warm winter essentials they need to stay well. Jammies for June is here to help.

By donating online, you can help us provide cosy jammies to kids who need them most, keeping sick kids warm and well. Cold, damp homes make winter even harder for vulnerable families as more children are admitted for respiratory illness. A pair of pyjamas can make a big difference for sick kids who find themselves unexpectedly in hospital.

Join Valerie’s Jammie Army and wrap a child in warmth by donating today at www.jammiesforjunewellington.org.nz 💛

Thank you to the Wellington Hospitals Foundation and Grant Thornton NZ for another successful Golf Day! Teeing off at Boulcott’s Farm Heritage Golf Club, it was the perfect day for it.🏌️‍♂️

Now in its third year, Grant Thornton Wellington are supporting people receiving care at Te Wao Nui Child Health Service through Wellington Hospitals Foundation as their charity of choice. Thanks to their incredible efforts, some generous auction bids and impressive golf, funds raised from the day will go directly to supporting tamariki and whānau through Te Wao Nui.

A huge shout out to the Grant Thornton team, especially Emily, for the planning, energy, and care that went into making the event such a success, and to all the teams who took part on the day.

We’re so grateful for your ongoing support and the difference it helps make.

A big thank you to the Rotary Club of Wellington (RCW) for another successful Jumbo Tennis Fundraiser 🎾

It was a jumbo afternoon of fun as teams dressed up and grabbed oversized rackets in support of a great cause.

When a baby is born needing intensive care, every heartbeat and breath matters. Thanks to Wellington Rotary, all funds raised will go toward a new Mindray monitor for our NICU. The monitor gives clinicians the detailed, real time information they need to care for our most vulnerable patients. It’s technology that sits quietly beside the incubator helping to protect our tiniest patients.

It’s easy to see why this event has been a favourite since 2009, thank you Rotary and all the teams who participated for the continued support!

Wellington District Police have long been wonderful supporters of our region’s children’s hospital and we were thrilled to welcome them to Te Wao Nui this morning with a huge delivery of cosy pyjamas for tamariki and rangatahi in hospital care.

These warm winter PJs were generously donated to Wellington Hospitals Foundation Jammies in June Appeal by members of the wider Wellington District Police whānau, including teams from: Wellington Central Police & Central Communications, Royal NZ Police College, Police National Headquarters, the National Dive Squad, Fi****ms Registry, Child Protection (Petone), Kapiti and the Kapiti Digital Centre, Evidence Based Policing and Wellness Team as well as the Hutt, Petone and Wairarapa Police teams.

Special thanks to Dan, Karl, Lisa, Shanee and Georgia for their mahi in coordinating the police appeal. 💙

Gorgeous 6 year old Esme was recently rushed to Wellington Hospital with a severe respiratory illness. It was a frightening time for her and her whānau - but cosy new pyjamas, a Tiaki soft toy and colouring set brought a little comfort and calm during her unexpected stay.

Your support makes a huge difference to families when illness strikes out of the blue - and Esme wanted to say a special thank you. 💛

Please donate to Wellington Hospitals Foundation Jammies in June Appeal today and help us wrap more children in warmth and care this winter: https://whf.org.nz/
