Unfortunately, the new funding proposal was offered at approximately one quarter of what we’d been previously funded, for general education purposes. We are unable to continue to provide our services at this reduced funding level.
We are very supportive of the increase of funding given to Māori and Pacifika women. However, we are particularly concerned that women under 24 years, who had specific funding previously, are no longer being funded for.
We are very sorry that we are another loss to the birthing community of the Hutt Valley. From our experience, we know we have many vulnerable women who need our services and we are heartbroken that these women are no longer being accounted for.
