We know that rising living costs and fuel prices are putting pressure on many in our community right now. Here's a quick rundown of support available to our students:

🚌 Getting to campus
Full-time students get 25% off Metlink services. Eligible Community Services Card holders can get 50% off. VUWSA also offers free bus passes if you have classes across campuses.

💰 Financial help
Student finance advisers, the Hardship Fund, and financial wellbeing workshops are all available. StudyLink entitlements increased from 1 April 2026; check your portal to make sure you're getting what you're entitled to.

🍎 Free food
Emergency food parcels are available through VUWSA's Community Pantry on the Kelburn and Te Aro campuses. Free bread from Kaibosh is available most Fridays at the Kelburn campus.

🧠 Wellbeing
It’s understandable to be anxious during uncertain times. You can visit The Bubble on any campus for free fruit, hot drinks, canine therapy, and more. Or call/text 1737 anytime to speak with a trained counsellor.

📚 Study support
Reach out to your Tītoko Student Success Adviser, Student Learning, or specialist student community services through Pūaha.

You can find more info on available support services at the link below.
If you have questions, email our team at students@vuw.ac.nz

We’ll continue to keep you updated on social media as needed.
