🎨 Summerset Blenheim resident artist, Sally Gill, a long-time exhibitor in the Alzheimer's Marlborough Art Trail, suggested that Blenheim village was added to this years’ art trail and enthusiastic village team members helped make it happen! Sally and village activities coordinator, Dawn, invited fellow resident artist, Pete Rickerby, who was keen to take part, then opened the invitation to all residents. The response was nothing short of amazing. The village team were overwhelmed by the incredible talent in the village - not only from those exhibiting their beautiful work, but from residents who generously donated their time, and home baking for their refreshment station which was available to visitors for a donation. Sally kindly donated an original framed watercolour painting titled, ‘Ligar Bay,’ for the raffle. Others contributed beautiful handmade bedspreads, cards, and fiddle blankets, either for sale or silent auction over the weekend. All funds raised will be donated to Alzheimer’s New Zealand at part of Alzheimer's Awareness Month. 💜

💜 It’s World Alzheimer’s Month and the residents of Summerset down the Lane have been busy with Alzheimer's Awareness activities this week. They kicked the week off by watching a BrainFit Webinar, followed by a Move for Dementia session led by Village Manager, Ann-Maree. Everyone wore purple or accessorized in purple to show their support for Dementia. Later in the week was a combined 'Walk for Dementia' with the care centre residents. Residents played fun riddle and guessing games, shared stories and experiences about Dementia, and enjoyed a purple afternoon tea (Purple Yum Cake) to finish off the event. The Hamilton village raised $275 during the week of activities which has been donated to Dementia Waikato. 💜

🌧 Spring weather can be fickle and Summerset on Summerhill's fur-resident, Roczen was less than impressed when he got caught in a rainstorm. Thankfully, there are plenty of people in the Palmerston North village to fuss over him, which he loved. 💜🐾❤
