Latest COVID-19 update.

I tēnei wā tonu, kua 3,791,509 te tokomaha o ngā tāngata i werohia katoatia ki te kano āraimate.

3,791,509 people are now fully vaccinated.

Yesterday, 21,495 doses were administered. This includes 11,024 booster doses. More than 7.9 million doses have been administered to date.

Kua 39 te nama o ngā kēhi KOWHEORI-19 ā-hapori i ara ake i te rangi nei. Kua 10 te nama o ngā kēhi hou kua ara ake i te ripa whenua.

There are 39 new community cases of COVID-19 to report today. There are:
- 25 in Auckland
- 11 in Bay of Plenty
- 2 in Lakes DHB (North Island)
- 1 in Taranaki

There are 10 new active cases at the border. The Ministry of Health are carrying out whole genome sequencing on all new border cases of COVID-19 to rapidly identify any new cases of the Omicron variant. There are now a total of eight cases with the Omicron variant isolating in MIQ facilities, and none have been in the community.

As a precautionary interim measure, all passengers on flights with Omicron cases are required to complete all ten days at a managed isolation facility – rather than spending the last three days of their isolation period in self-isolation.

Of the eight Omicron cases, two are in a bubble but the other six cases are unrelated to each other suggesting no cross-contamination or cross-infection either in-flight or within MIQ facilities.

There are 49 cases in hospital. Of these, 5 are in an intensive care or high dependency unit.

Of the 10,168 cases in the current outbreak, 84% (8,497) are not fully immunised. Of the 520 hospitalised cases in the current outbreak, 93% (485) are not fully immunised. For the purposes of this data, fully immunised means they received both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine at least 7 days before being reported as a case.
