When we started Vaso, we knew we wanted to create urns for pets too, because losing a pet is losing family.

Yet most pet urns felt like something you’d want to hide away - conventional wooden boxes, overly sentimental trinkets, not made to live on display in a home.

We wanted to change that with vessels that honour the life of our furry companions with the same care, beauty and design as our larger urns made for people.

When the lid of one of our Vaso urns broke, instead of throwing it away, our ceramicist repaired it using the Japanese practice of kintsugi, where cracks are mended with gold.

Instead of disguising the break, the repair honours it. The fracture becomes part of the object’s history - visible, deliberate, and beautiful.

Kintsugi carries a philosophy we hold close at Vaso: that imperfection is not something to erase, but something to acknowledge. The marks of time, grief, love, and memory are what give our cremation vessels their meaning.

A closer look at our Andromeda vessel.

Reminiscent of the Greek princess they’re named after, the voluptuous shapes demand attention and invite you to reach out, touch and hold them. Tucked under each outer lid is another smaller lid to keep precious contents safe.
