Water cremation is now available in Aotearoa New Zealand, with the countries first water crematorium opening at Bell, Lamb & Trotter Funeral Directors in Ōtautahi (Christchurch). https://belllambtrotter.co.nz/water/

Using water and alkali instead of fire, this process gently returns the body to its natural elements. It leaves only bone ash, just like traditional cremation, meaning you still need a cremation urn but no casket.

It’s more sustainable, more gentle, and a sign of changing how we honour those we’ve lost.
