Helping reduce isolation in Southland through Virtual Reality
For older people in rural Southland, staying connected can become more difficult over time.
It can show up in small ways – fewer conversations, fewer visits, and more distance from family and friends.
HealthCare New Zealand is proud to support Age Concern Southland by funding an innovative Virtual Reality (VR) social engagement programme designed to bring people together in new ways.
Using the Rendever virtual reality platform, small groups will share experiences together, including virtual travel, memory-based journeys, and interactive activities.
These are not solo experiences. They are shared moments, experienced together, talked about together, and remembered together.
The impact isn’t in the technology, but in what it creates – laughter, storytelling, and connection.
We’re proud to support this initiative and the difference it will make for older people across the region.
