Helping reduce isolation in Southland through Virtual Reality
For older people in rural Southland, staying connected can become more difficult over time.
It can show up in small ways – fewer conversations, fewer visits, and more distance from family and friends.
HealthCare New Zealand is proud to support Age Concern Southland by funding an innovative Virtual Reality (VR) social engagement programme designed to bring people together in new ways.
Using the Rendever virtual reality platform, small groups will share experiences together, including virtual travel, memory-based journeys, and interactive activities.
These are not solo experiences. They are shared moments, experienced together, talked about together, and remembered together.
The impact isn’t in the technology, but in what it creates – laughter, storytelling, and connection.
We’re proud to support this initiative and the difference it will make for older people across the region.

International Nurses Day (12 May) is a chance to recognise the vital role nurses play in healthcare every day.

At HealthCare New Zealand, we see the skill, resilience, and compassion nurses bring to their mahi. They sit at the centre of care – providing expertise, reassurance, and support when people need it most.

Nursing is complex, fast-moving, and deeply human work. Nurses balance clinical judgement, emotional support, and practical care – often in unpredictable and high-pressure situations.
This year’s theme, “Our Nurses. Our Future. Empowered Nurses Save Lives,” reflects what we see every day; when nurses are supported and trusted to do their mahi well, the impact extends to every person they care for.

To all our nurses across Aotearoa, thank you. Your skill, compassion, resilience, and manaakitanga are at the heart of healthcare in this country.

We are proud to stand alongside you and support the mahi you do every day.

We’re incredibly proud to share that HealthCare NZ has once again been voted New Zealand’s most trusted home health care brand in the Trusted Brands Awards, for the second year in a row!

This recognition means so much because it’s based on the real experiences of Kiwis across Aotearoa. It reflects the dedication, compassion, and professionalism our support workers, nurses, health professionals, and office-based teams bring to their work every single day.

To our incredible team across Aotearoa, thank you. Your care makes all the difference to the individuals, whānau, and communities we support.

Lighting up Aotearoa for people living with Parkinson’s
This World Parkinson’s Day (11 April), we stand alongside the thousands of New Zealanders living with Parkinson’s and their whānau, recognising their daily challenges and journeys.

HealthCare New Zealand is proud to support Spark the Night, a global campaign lighting up landmarks in blue across New Zealand and around the world, showing solidarity with the 11.8 million people living with Parkinson’s worldwide.

Every day, we walk alongside people with Parkinson’s and their whānau, supporting them to stay independent, connected, and live well on their own terms.

Look out for landmarks lit up in blue in your community, snap a photo, and share your support.
Together, we can raise awareness and help people living with Parkinson’s feel more connected and supported.
