We’re still pinching ourselves…First Light was awarded the NZ Design Merit Award at this year’s World of WearableArt Show! 🏆
This garment was a real family collaboration, made by Brett, Harvey, and me. It’s one we poured our hearts into and it’s our favourite piece we’ve ever made.
We couldn’t be in Wellington for the show (we were in Lake Garda, Italy, for the OK Dinghy World Champs ⛵) and Harvey was in Barcelona, but our girls were there in the audience, proudly walking on stage to receive the award. Thanks to live video calls, Harvey was right there with us too, emotional and completely surprised. You can even hear our daughters screaming in the background of the video!
Meanwhile, Brett was literally on the boat ramp about to launch for racing. I sprinted down to tell him the news just in time. Safe to say it was a day full of adrenaline for all of us!
We are super proud of First Light - made from old sails, shining with new life and so grateful to WOW for this recognition. 🌊
