We’re back, refreshed, and excited for what’s coming in 2026 😈

This year we’ll be continuing to build on what matters most to us: strong coaching and a great community. We've got loads to be excited by, especially with more classes (some completely new classes we'll be announcing soon 👀), more workshops, and even more community events on the way.

✨ And that’s a wrap for 2025! 🤜🤛

Thanks everyone for being a part of this year with us and helping make ONI the community it is. We are actually so stoked about how this year went 💪

2025 has been a huge one for us. From new staff joining the team, Mid Year and End Year Max Out events, to sold out workshops, new classes, and social events like karaoke night and the Escarpment Track, we are incredibly proud of how much ONI has grown this year; staff and wider community alike.

We’re taking a short break over the holidays, but there’s lots to look forward to in the new year:

▪️ More Women’s strength classes late Jan/early Feb
▪️ Beginner Strongman classes mid-Feb
▪️ Calisthenics classes continuing

What a weekend! We are all still absolutely buzzing. Thank you so much to everyone who came through, took part, and cheered through the event! The atmosphere was wicked thanks to you all 😈

We're super excited to be introducing you to ONI's new run coach, Bridget! 😈 With an impressive list of athletic achievements, including being the first person ever to complete all of NZ's 11 great walks in 11 days, Bridget brings a wealth of experience to help runners of all levels.

Her specialties include:

◼️ Ultra running
◼️ Half and full marathons
◼️ Triathlons

"My background as a researcher and academic meant I dove into all the literature I could find and I became a certified trail and ultra run coach. I sharpened my understanding of biomechanics, movement, and endurance systems, and built a practice around helping people run smarter, cleaner and freer.

There is still so much to learn about endurance sports, particularly for female athletes. Because of this, I'm constantly absorbing all that I can around the sports. I believe that running and coaching is best approached as both a science and an art.

My coaching considers all aspects of training, recovery, nutrition, and life, to help you achieve your best. I want to help people find adventure, enjoyment, and empowerment through running, and to have a lot of fun along the way."

We had an awesome day for our ONI staff Christmas party this year! A full Amazing Race across the city with three teams battling it out.

Each team had to solve riddles, crack puzzles, and complete challenges along the way, including filming fun videos, smashing ice cream speed trials, and taking some very creative team photos, all while racing toward the final destination 😈

We wrapped it all up with a great dinner together, followed by a super fun round of karaoke.

Huge shout out to , , , and for putting up with our shenanigans and being part of the fun.

Already excited for next year!

Have you struggled with building core strength, or bracing it when lifting? Have you experienced pain or vulnerability in your back, inside or outside of the gym?

Our final Strength Workshop of 2025 is for you!

🚨 Core Strength, Breathing & Bracing 🚨

📅 Saturday the 29th of November
🕑 10:00am - 12:00pm
📍ONI Personal Training Studio

This workshop will take place across 2 hours, blending theoretical & practical education throughout. Across the workshop, Adam will cover the following:

⚡ Core and spine - breaking down the anatomy & function of all muscles that contribute to its strength.

⚡ Break down the relationship between our breath & our core musculature when bracing.

⚡ Run through desirable bracing technique in lifting.

⚡ Break down how gaining core strength can help prevent pain & injury.

⚡ Show you exercises that will give you a stronger & more robust core as well as training the core in many different positions & planes of motion.

Huge thanks to for having us yesterday! We had a great turnout for our Strength & Conditioning Principles Workshop, diving into the fundamentals of how to train smarter for combat sports 🤜🤛

We explored what makes Muay Thai and MMA so unique from a performance perspective; energy systems, physical demands, and tactical needs (and how to design training that actually meets those demands 💪).

We also covered key principles of training, including:
▪️General Physical Preparation (GPP) – building broad, foundational fitness
▪️Specificity – tailoring training to the exact demands of the sport
▪️Overload – applying progressive challenge to stimulate adaptation
▪️Fatigue Management – balancing stress and recovery for consistent progress
▪️Variation – introducing strategic changes to prevent plateaus
▪️Periodisation – structuring training phases over time for peak performance
▪️Individualisation – adjusting programs to suit each athlete’s level, goals, and recovery needs

Really enjoyed working with such a motivated group of fighters and coaches. Excited to keep supporting MTI and watching their athletes continue to grow stronger, faster, and more resilient both in and out of the ring.

Foot Camp Workshop Recap! 🦶

What a turnout! It was awesome to see so many of you at our Foot Workshop over the weekend. We had great energy as well as awesome curiosity and questions throughout 👣💪

We dove into both the theory and practice of strong, supple feet; covering:

✅ Plantar fasciitis, bunions, Achilles pain & more
✅ Gait (and how your footwear plays a role)
✅ Myofascial release for feet, calves, and ankles
✅ Strength and mobility exercises for strong AND supple feet

Most of us are never taught how to look after our feet, even though they’re the foundation for everything we do. This workshop was all about awareness, action, and leaving with tools to move with more confidence.

After a challenging Day 1, Conor climbed from 19th to 9th overall in just 3 events on Day 2, an incredible comeback. Here were some of his standout performances:

Axle Overhead Press – 140kg
✅ New 10kg PB - 3rd equal in the world 🥉

Bag Toss (18-26kg over 4.1m bar)
✅ All 5 bags in 33 seconds - 6th place

Zercher Yoke into Sandbag Carry (250kg + 130kg)
✅ Fast, clean run in 45 seconds - 6th place

Fat Grip Hercules Hold (90kg per hand)
✅ 38 seconds - 11th place

Sandball Dash (130kg x4 reps)
✅ Gritty effort - 10th equal

Conor is now officially:
