I get how irritating the directive to “just get some rest” can feel.

👉 When you’re lying awake at 11.30pm, willing your brain to shut off.
👉 Or when you’ve been given an hour to yourself — but you’re so overwhelmed with options, you faff and do nothing.

So many women I work with share this exact feeling: they want to rest, but don’t know how.

That’s because true rest is less about willpower and more about nervous system regulation.

Your body will always get the rest it needs — the question is whether you choose it or it chooses you. Lately I’ve seen the same theme again and again with women I work with: being forced to slow down through, illness or injury or life life-ing.

Rest isn’t a luxury — it’s a boundary your body will eventually set for you. And if you don’t listen to your body’s whispers for rest, it will eventually start shouting.

Where are you ignoring your body’s cues for rest? And what would it look like to choose rest before you’re forced to?

👋 It’s been a while between posts. Just popping in to let y’all know that I’m still here. I actually never went anywhere, I just ducked off line for a bit.

Behind the scenes I’ve been having fun coaching repeat and word of mouth clients, running corporate workshops and and growing and raising two tiny humans.

My tiny humans are getting bigger now so the time has come for me to start letting more people know about me and the work I’m putting out in the world. 🦋

My new meditation is to spend as much time as I can every day just 'being' with her.

Noticing everything there is to notice about her - her squidgy fat rolls, her bright eyes, her long dark eyelashes, how her chest rises and falls when she breathes, feeling her soft skin, her legs get a little chunkier and her tiny fingers get a little better at grasping for her favourite toys.

I think it helps me to sit with feelings when things aren't so great too.

I appreciate little things sooooo much more!

This morning I was so grateful to have 20 mins in the bush on my own and yesterday I went for a 20 min ocean swim.

I was beyond blissed out by how lucky I was to live so close to the ocean and have the time to myself to do it whereas I used to take these things for granted.

When we are overwhelmed by stress or emotion (or simply bored), it is all too tempting to reach for a snack as a distraction.

When you get the urge to eat, ask yourself
“am I hungry?” or “what just happened?”

In many cases taking a walk outside, having a chat with a friend, or drinking a glass of water will serve us better. Mindful eating is eating when our bodies tell us to eat and we physically feel hungry.

I've noticed that both her and I get stressed when I let my own silly judgements cloud how I parent her.
Life is much easier when I tune in and listen to my Mumma bear instincts, rather than worrying about what others may think, which is more so in my own head than in reality anyway"
