Domino Midwives

Domino Midwives Domino Midwives provide continuity of midwifery care to those living in Wellington and Porirua during Informed choice and our commitment to safety is paramount.

The Domino Midwives philosophy is based on the strong belief that pregnancy, labour and childbirth are normal life events for most people. Our aim is to promote a positive experience with minimal intervention. Support and trust in birth givers are essential elements of our practice and we work to achieve the best possible outcome for you and your whānau. Domino Midwives encourage our clients to ch

oose a natural approach unless clinical issues indicate otherwise. We encourage you to inform yourself about natural alternatives to medical interventions that are often used routinely in healthy pregnancies. We enjoy implementing a holistic approach to our care, incorporating techniques such as homeopathy, acupuncture, acupressure, massage and herbal remedies. Our relationship with birthing parents involves the free exchange of information on which to base their decisions to empower and enhance their own ability to make choices in pregnancy, labour, birth and postnatally with their new baby. Continuity of midwifery care is central to our practice and to achieving good outcomes. Domino Midwives gives priority to those wishing to have a water birth or a home birth as there are not as many midwives offering this service in Wellington.

Dominos would like to say a MASSIVE thank you to everyone for the aroha, kind messages, and offers of support ❤️

We are incredibly grateful for our community — your aroha has meant so much to us.

We’re doing well. While our clinic has been badly damaged and we’ll be moving on, we’ve secured a temporary space nearby as we begin the search for a new permanent clinic.

This feels like the start of a new chapter for Dominos. We’re excited for what’s ahead, while also holding space for the sadness of leaving a place that has welcomed so many whānau, midwives, and pēpi over the years.

Kia ora everyone,

We hope you are all safe and well. Our thoughts are with everyone affected by the recent flash flooding—it’s heartbreaking to see so many impacted.

As many of you may know, the Lychgate Centre was significantly affected, and we are devastated to share that our clinic has been severely damaged by the flooding.

Despite this, we remain committed to caring for our whānau and will continue providing services. We will be sending emails soon with updates on the current situation.

We kindly ask for your patience as we work through this challenging time. There may be changes to appointment times, and we appreciate your flexibility as we do our best to accommodate everyone. For now, you may see us operating from different locations while we figure out our next steps.

We are incredibly thankful to all emergency services who are working tirelessly to care for those affected today.

Thank you for your understanding and support. Please stay safe.

Aroha Nui,
Domino Midwives

One of our colleagues worked on this amazing documentary which is now live and free to watch. Perfect viewing for a stormy weekend.

We are excited to share that 'Home Birth' is now available to watch FREE on the Health NZ website. Link in bio.

For me, the inspiration from the start was to create a resource that resonates closely for hapu whānau of Aotearoa, supporting them to better understand Home Birth as an option. It feels very exciting to finally have this to share with you all - please share it far and wide.

We are so proud of Sarah for all of her hard work in putting this together. Please note the new venue.

It's been a big week!
Unfortunately, our original Premiere venue at Aotea College had to cancel on us last minute. We have secured a new venue (same date & time) in Wellington City, just above Pukeahu National War Memorial Park at what was the Dominion Museum Building.

The teaser for the Home Birth Documentary Sarah has been working so hard on!! Well done Sarah and team!
