I'm a qualified personal trainer (REPs registered) and a Triathlon NZ Foundation Accredited Coach. I have also done further study on training pregnant and postpartum women and the pelvic floor. I'm an EVEolution™️affiliated trainer and have completed the EVEolution™️ course myself. I have an online 8 week postpartum return to run training programme that is perfect for the new mum, or the mum who hasn't run in a while. I also can design a running or triathlon programme just for YOU! I also offer 1-1 personal training sessions to work on strength and fitness that aligns with your goals. Many mums are surprised at how quickly weight drops when they start GLP-1s - but fast loss isn’t always healthy loss.

GLP-1 medications can reduce appetite so much that some women end up eating far less than they realise. Without enough protein or strength work, the body doesn’t just lose fat… it loses muscle too.

And muscle is the very thing that supports metabolism, bone health, energy and long-term strength.

Many women were never taught that the menstrual cycle is more than just a monthly bleed. It’s actually one of the clearest indicators of how your body is coping with training load, recovery and life stress. Yet many coaches still don't talk about it with their clients or factor it into training.

When your cycle shifts - whether that’s timing, flow or symptoms - it’s often your body responding to changes in mileage, intensity, sleep, fuelling or overall stress. Not a sign that something is “wrong,” but valuable feedback from your system.

Through my ongoing MumSafe™ education with women’s health professionals like Nardia Norman, we look at the menstrual cycle as a vital sign for female athletes. When women understand their personal “normal,” they feel more confident adjusting training, managing energy and recovering well across the month.

At Sparkle Fitness, I help women tune into these signals so training feels safer, smarter and more sustainable — whether you’re building fitness, returning post-baby or preparing for race season.

If foods that used to work for your training are now causing bloating, cramps or low energy - you’re not alone.

Many running and triathlon mums notice changes in digestion during postpartum, perimenopause or heavy training blocks. Add summer heat, early mornings, broken sleep and race stress, and the gut can quickly feel overloaded.

This matters because fuelling well is not optional for endurance sport. When digestion is under stress, energy, recovery and confidence often suffer too.

A new food reaction doesn’t mean you’re broken.
It usually means your body is asking for a more supportive approach.
