A heartfelt thank you to our Eye donor families...
On behalf of Hospice Taranaki, we want to acknowledge the incredible generosity of families who have chosen to donate their loved ones’ eyes.
Between January and July 2025 we (Taranaki) had the highest number of eye donors in NZ, thanks to open conversations.
We mention it now because we have received a message of appreciation from the New Zealand National Eye Bank and we wanted to pass along the appreciation to the families of those who have donated. Thank you.
Each eye donation touches countless lives, giving the gift of sight to those in need.

Thank you for your wonderful support throughout the year. We wish you and your whānau a happy, safe, and restful festive season — and we look forward to welcoming you back in the New Year.

New year, new job – with deeper meaning

This part-time role is all about people — welcoming patients and whānau, supporting our staff, and helping our service run smoothly every day. It’s varied, rewarding, and makes a genuine difference in our community.
If 2026 is the year you want your work to have deeper purpose, we’d love to hear from you.

We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to you, our Taranaki community.
Your generosity, kindness and belief in the work we do make an extraordinary difference every single day. Because of your support — whether through our HospiceShops, donations, sponsorship, partnership, events, pro bono, or quiet acts of care — we are able to stand alongside people in some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives.
Your commitment ensures that care remains free, local, and available to those who need us most. Thank you all.
We wish you all a very Merry Christmas.

Special words from Fiona, our Spiritual Care Coordinator: 'I’d like to acknowledge that the Christmas season and special anniversaries especially can stir powerful memories and emotions. These occasions can hold both comfort and sadness, warmth and ache—reminders of shared laughter, favourite places, and the presence of the person we miss as well as the quiet spaces where their absence is felt most deeply. Grief at Christmas and on other significant dates can ebb and flow like the tide, sometimes gentle and sometimes overwhelming, and it’s important to give yourself permission to feel whatever arises. There is no right or wrong way to feel or remember. You might find comfort in connecting with whānau and friends, spending time in nature, or creating new ways to honour your loved one that reflect your own journey and the landscapes of this beautiful place we call home”.
Thank you, Fiona ❤

When passion for a great cause meets competitive spirit - you get Neil Barnes!

Neil is always happy to support Teeing Off for Hospice and has been involved since it started 6 years ago, "an awesome cause and great fun to be part of. I’ve also got a long-standing association with George MacArthur, a top bloke who I’m always glad to back."

Like most 16-handicap golfers, I can be a rock star one day and a muppet the next — but make no mistake, I’m fiercely competitive.

Effort level: 5/5.

Big heart, big effort, and plenty of competitive fire — thanks for backing Hospice once again, Barnesy!
