The Westport Rugby Football Club is deeply saddened by the passing of Life Member, Roy Atkin.

Roy’s connection to the Westport Rugby Football Club spanned a lifetime. From his early days playing through JAB grades right through to senior rugby, his passion for the game and the club was evident.
Off the field, Roy made a significant contribution to Westport Rugby and the wider Buller rugby community. Over the years, he served the club in a number of roles including Secretary, Vice President, President, Senior Coach, and as a BRU Delegate, always with the best interests of the club at heart.

In recognition of his outstanding service, Roy was made a Life Member of the Westport Rugby Football Club in 1984 a fitting acknowledgement of the dedication he showed to our club.

Roy’s legacy is one of commitment, service, and pride in his club, and it will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

The thoughts of everyone at the Westport Rugby Football Club are with Anne and the Atkin family at this sad time. Our sincere condolences to you all.

Just show up on the day — we’ll split everyone into teams!

Start time: 5.30pm
Teams of at least 6, preferably at least 2 of each gender per team.

Congrats to former Westport player Dan Hooper on his appointment!

We are pleased to announce the appointment of our new Assistant coach Dan Hooper. Dan has been the Head of Academy at the club since 2017 and has delivered excellent results, most recently with back-to-back titles with the U19 teams.

“It’s an exciting opportunity for me to join the coaching staff here at the Brumbies and make the next step in my career,” Hooper said.
