For anyone who may not have received our e-mail, Daryl and I have announced that we are leaving Whakatane. I must say the literally hundreds of replies and kind words we have received following our email blast have been very moving. We are going to miss this town terribly.
For anyone who missed it..
It is with mixed feelings that we are writing to let you know that David and Daryl are leaving Whakatane and will be wrapping up Koru Chiropractic in the next four months or so.
We chose to set up practice in Whakatane after tiki-touring the whole country on our return from the UK. We had many options but this town came out on top by a country mile and has been our home for over nineteen years. However recent family losses have made us re-evaluate a few things. As a result we are moving closer to our remaining family, who live in Auckland.
It has been a difficult decision as it has been our absolute privilege to provide chiropractic care to over 8000 wonderful, inspiring (and occasionally challenging) people here since we opened the practice in Whakatane back in 2004. David has never once woken up begrudging the fact that he had to go to work which we reckon is not too bad at all.
We are exploring options as to who can take over the clinic so watch this space. Whatever happens, David will no longer be associated with the practice as he will be setting up in Clevedon (or Auckland Lite as we like to call it). We have a lifestyle property there where Daryl can have her horses and David can look after some covenanted native bush. All our family (except our globetrotting son) are within one hour’s travel so it’s perfect.
So David will be operating on his own for a while with no Reception cover. Please call and leave a message or book online via our website or page. We have had a trial run of this over the last couple of weeks as, entirely coincidentally, Daryl was off competing in the Australian National Endurance Riding Championships and it seemed to work well.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for entrusting us with your care. David particularly is going to miss so many patients he has built up relationships with over the years. Apart from some incredibly rewarding outcomes there have been so many laughs (and the occasional tears) all adding up to a richly rewarding clinical environment. I’m going to miss it.
David will be setting up a wee practice around Clevedon in the New Year so if you’re up that direction and need a tweak……
Kind regards and all our love
David and Daryl Owen
