We’re introducing a new rehabilitation program at Next Step Whakatane, designed to improve your overall health, fitness, strength, and quality of life.

The program is targeted at improving health conditions such as Heart disease, COPD and Diabetes.

This program is individualised, evidence-based, and guided by professionals.

- Suitable for beginners and those returning to exercise

🚨 Are you aging STRONG??

Building muscle is commonly referred to as the fountain of youth 💪 but why?

Getting older doesn’t have to mean getting weaker!! There are easy and practical steps you can take to maintain and improve your muscle and strength.

Muscle and strength loss is primarily due to inactivity. The old ‘use it or lose it’ saying is undoubtedly true for healthy muscle as we age.

Why is muscle so important as we age?

- Avoid fragility: More muscle = less chance of falls and injury, and is you best defence against losing your mobility.

- Improves metabolism: Every bit of muscle is metabolically active, burning calories at rest and during exercise.

- Strengthens bones: Strength training stimulates bone growth, which combats osteoporosis.

- Fights against disease: Strength training reduces risk for diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, metabolic disease, cancer and many others!!

- Help you stay independent: You’re able to still do the things you enjoy and love!

What can you do to building muscle and strength?

Strength/ resistance training!!!

Working every muscle group with sufficient weight 2-3x a week will guarantee strength improvement!
