Our company has a well-established and trusted name in the Funeral Industry. Willetts Funeral Services has been in business since 1990 covering the Eastern Bay of Plenty and New Zealand. Our Chapel seats 120 comfortably and for larger services we open up the back of the chapel, seating a further 100 people. The chapel is fully air conditioned and is spacious and comfortable with high quality soun

d equipment and a digital projector for photo presentations, an electric organ and video facilities to record the service. For family members that are unable to attend, We have available a live Funeral Streaming Service. Due to different reasons, sometimes family or friends may not be able to attend the funeral but now with the latest technology we are able to offer a Funeral Streaming service, the next best thing to being there. We are fully wheelchair friendly with a ramp at the rear of the chapel allowing access to the adjoining lounge, kitchen area and bathrooms. Our reception lounge and kitchen provides a place for light refreshments following the service. We also have two private family rooms.

Margaret Elizabeth Burrell (née Whiddon) passed away peacefully on Saturday the 2nd of August 2025, at the age of 77. Margie was the beloved wife of Paul (deceased) and partner to Wayne. A loving mum to Jacq, Jo, and Chris, and to Warren, Marty, Lance and Lorraine. A fabulous and proud Narnie to India, Luka, Isla, Tilly, Marina, and Paul, and a dear sister to Trish, Paul, Robert, Anne, and John.
Margie will be remembered for her devotion to her family, her church, and her community. Her kind spirit, sense of fun, and warm smile will be deeply missed by all.
Rosary for Margie will be offered in the St Peter Chanel Catholic Church, King Street, Whakatane on Thursday 7th August at 5:30pm, a Requiem Mass will be celebrated at the above Church on Friday the 8th of August at 11am, followed by a private cremation. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Parkinson’s New Zealand.

Treasured and respected brother, uncle and friend to many. After immigrating to Australia from Stromboli, Italy, Joe and his brothers then immigrated to New Zealand. They served the Whakatane community at The Lyric fish & chip shop for nearly 40 years. After retiring in Ōhope with his wife Silvana, he touched the hearts of many as he walked the beach nearly every day until he was 93. We, the staff at Willetts, wish to express our heartfelt condolences and mourn the loss of Rae Domney. Rae was a valued colleague who worked alongside us for many years, serving as a minister and celebrant. Her warm humour, compassionate heart, and humility impacted us all. As she often brightened our days with her quick wit and insistence that she be picked up and dropped off at any funeral she presided over, we can't help but feel that the world has become a lot more boring without her presence.

Some members of our team will be attending a memorial service in her honour, which will be held at St George and St John Anglican Methodist Church on Saturday 19th July at 2pm.

Rest in peace, Rae.
