Twelve months ago I visited an old school friend to find that her head was "stuck " towards the right shoulder. She was in constant pain and taking Gabapentin 5x per day( Very addictive) and Paracetamol and Codeine 6 tabs a day to be only able to achieve 'just bearable 'constant pain . She had visited Dr's, Osteopaths,Physio's, and a specialist in shoulder pain and even a surgeon, to only have achieved the current outcome. It had been worse! But they were not able to improve her level of comfort further.
6 months prior she had had double hip replacements and still had sciatica and hip pain from that. Her future....well, she did wonder how it was all going to end .
I told her what I did with ConTACT CARE and immediately she wanted a session. So she had 4 sessions over the next 4 months
1st session: no pain until bedtime
2nd session: no pain for over 24 hours
3rd session : a distinct warming feeling of the neck region the next day and from then on over the next 8 weeks ( she was on holiday in Australia) there was a gradual decrease of pain levels, added to that she found she was able to "wean" herself off the very addictive Gabapentin. The weaning off can be worse than taking the drug...but she had no effects of that.
4th session when she returned home : further work was done. ....Best of all she said "NO PAIN" . And she stood straight without her head bent to the side. Still some stiffness but she has fused vertebrae , however mobility was much improved

A prebooked visit to the surgeon resulted in the conclusion that he did no longer need to help her.
It has been nearly 12 months now and this 66yo is still pain free and enjoying a much better quality of life.
I just love ConTACT CARE and how it can help people

Head Injury? Concussion or whiplash? Chances are that if you have sustained this, perhaps many years ago, you still have ongoing problems as a result and may not even be aware of it. I have regularly had cases from car accidents or trauma to the head dating back several years. Two of these had constant headaches ( 10 years and 5 years ago)and were not able to get any help apart from medication. Headaches now gone and these ladies can move on with their lives. Head injury affects people in different ways, moodiness, tiredness, memory and cognitive function to mention a few. Not to mention that this is your "Main Computer" and can affect various related organs and parts of the body at later stages of your life . Some reported changes are improved memory, not so tired, no pressure in head, no headaches. improved cognitive function. Give yourself a much valued treat and have a Concussion Release treatment.

Recently, our internal medicine team at NEC was presented with a foal showing classic signs of neonatal maladjustment syndrome (a.k.a. dummy foal syndrome) where it was very detached, had no desire to nurse and was becoming very weak as a result. A nasogastric tube was placed so the foal could be tube fed and he was started on broad spectrum antimicrobials to protect him from infection since he had not received the essential colostrum from its mum. Once the foal was stabilized, the Madigan Squeeze Technique was performed which can be seen in the first picture.

The foal remained in the squeeze position for 20 minutes, then woke up as the squeeze was released, within 2 hours of the squeeze technique being performed the foal was suddenly very bright with a strong affinity for its mum, and nursing! See the video in the comments!

For more information on neonatal maladjustment syndrome and the Madigan Squeeze Technique, give the article by Dr. Lisanne Gallant a read by tapping on the link below.

Old age is not always kind to people and horses alike. Six months ago I was asked to work on a 30 yo 17hh Irish horse who had been used for many years in the Waikato Hunt Club as the Huntsmans horse. Beamer is so kindly and not showing any negative behaviours while coping with what his body is not allowing him to do. His owner who has him in retirement lovingly has helped him cope with some difficulties. Beamer's body did not allow him to walk in a straight line on two tracks but instead crabbed on 3 - 4 tracks. While standing still, he leaned his hindquarters so much he looked like he would tip over and had his right hind stifle protruding excessively and leg forward to help prop himself up. He had in fact become cast at one point.

When turning to the left he needed to take a very wide arc to be able to get around and the lead rein was attached to the outer side of his halter to help overcome his resistance to turn.

He did not canter uphill and struggled to keep weight on . His owner believed it would be his last winter(just gone)

I attended Beamer again a couple of days ago and was thrilled to see him tracking straight, not leaning over and having to prop himself up. He has gained some weight and now canters uphill to get his daily feeds, he now climbs up the hills , without the owner worrying about him tipping over. He can now turn to the left in a much smaller space, and responds well to pressure. WOW. What a change!

This is why we need horses.

Recent studies conducted by the Institute of HeartMath provide a clue to explain the bidirectional "healing" that happens when we are near horses. According to researchers, the heart has a larger electromagnetic field and higher level of intelligence than the brain: A magnetometer can measure the heart's energy field radiating up to 8 to 10 feet around the human body. While this is certainly significant it is perhaps more impressive that the electromagnetic field projected by the horse's heart is five times larger than the human one (imagine a sphere-shaped field that completely surrounds you). The horse's electromagnetic field is also stronger than ours and can actually directly influence our own heart rhythm!
Horses are also likely to have what science has identified as a "coherent" heart rhythm (heart rate pattern) which explains why we may "feel better" when we are around them. . . .studies have found that a coherent heart pattern or HRV is a robust measure of well-being and consistent with emotional states of calm and joy--that is, we exhibit such patterns when we feel positive emotions.
A coherent heart pattern is indicative of a system that can recover and adjust to stressful situations very efficiently. Often times, we only need to be in a horses presence to feel a sense of wellness and peace. In fact, research shows that people experience many physiological benefits while interacting with horses, including lowered blood pressure and heart rate, increased levels of beta-endorphins (neurotransmitters that serve as pain surppressors), decreased stress levels, reduced feelings of anger, hostility, tension and anxiety, improved social functioning; and increased feelings of empowerment, trust, patience and self-efficacy."

I have just worked with an 18 year old horse who was Flinchlocked in the lower jaw, sternum and scapulae (among others.... she failed the Vet test). Her topline was badly dipped from the withers through to point of croup. She was physically unable to lift her back.Watch this space... by the end of the session she was able to feel and respond when asked to lift her back.
