YOU DON'T NEED TO SAVE EVERYONE'S LIFE, just so long as you can save someone's!

Our 3 Steps for Life is a FREE one-hour CPR and AED education program, and it is designed to give all New Zealanders the confidence and awareness to act when someone suffers an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest.

Our lifesaving program is FREE for everyone but we need people to help us. WE NEED VOLUNTEER EDUCATORS that will help us to empower more New Zealanders to step up in an emergency with the confidence and skills.

HOW MUCH TIME WILL BE NEEDED? 12-15 hours A YEAR!

IS PRIOR KNOWLEDGE NECESSARY? No, we will train you.

WHAT WILL I BE DOING? Applying CPR and using an AED.

YOU can increase a someone's chance of survival by up to 40%!

HAVE YOU DONE OUR 3 STEPS FOR LIFE COURSE YET? IT'S FREE!

On 25 August our 3 Steps for life educator Geordie held a 3 steps course for the Turakina women's institute. The ladies generously donated $200 to St John Whanganui. We had a short interview with Geordie to ask him about how the course went.

Q: HI GEORDIE, SO WHERE DID YOU BRING OUR 3 STEPS FOR LIFE THIS TIME?

A: I was invited to Turakina school to share the course with the Turakina Women's Institute, they were holding a medical research meeting and were interested in hearing about what to do if they witnessed a cardiac arrest.

Q: WAS IT ANY DIFFERENT TO OTHER SESSIONS?

A: It definitely was, there was a great deal of prior knowledge and experience in the room around St John and some valuable firsthand experience of CPR and Cardiac arrest which I haven't experienced before.

Q: IS THERE ANYTHING YOU WOULD LIKE TO SAY TO THAT PARTICULAR GROUP?

A: I would like to thank them for opening the doors to me and sharing their own valuable life experiences to allow me to better shape my session to their lifestyles. I greatly appreciated the excellent and interesting questions that the group put to me, somewhere not an easy answer.
I would like to extend a massive thank you to the Turakina Women's Institute as they have donated generous funds to St John in Whanganui and sent me away with a competition winning lemon loaf (which was delicious)

Q: WHY3 STEPS FOR LIFE IS SO IMPORTANT?

A: 3 STEPS FOR LIFE is so important and valuable in our community, over 2,500 people in Aotearoa suffered a cardiac arrest last year and over 80% were in their own homes. The more people that take the time to learn these basic lifesaving skills in our community, the better the likelihood of survival.

Q: ANYTHING YOU WISH TO ADD?

A: If you would like to join us on one of our Free 3 STEPS FOR LIFE sessions follow our page where we will advertise all public sessions

THANK YOU GEORDIE FOR YOUR WORK IN OUR COMMUNITY!
