Celebrating breastfeeding at The Big Latch On
Whanganui families are invited to come together for The Big Latch On at Te Whare Piringa, a community event celebrating breastfeeding as a taonga for whānau.
📅 The Big Latch On, 27 March, 10am-12pm
📍 Whanganui event: Te Whare Piringa at 284 St Hill Street, Whanganui.
Hosted in partnership with Te Oranganui and supported by Lucy Pettit, Chief Midwife, Alex Craps, Lactation Consultant and Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative Coordinator and Rachel Taylor, Maternity Quality Safety Programme Coordinator from Health NZ - Whanganui . The event will include games, colouring activities for tamariki, light kai and opportunities for families to connect and share their journeys.
“The Big Latch On is about making breastfeeding visible and supported,” says Alex. “It’s a chance to celebrate every breastfeeding journey.”
At a special moment during the event, participating families will join in a synchronised latch, connecting with families across Aotearoa and around the world.
Everyone is welcome.
