This wānanga introduces Māori Cycologies and Mauri-informed (life-source) approaches to healing, learning, teaching, living and trauma.

Kawakawa show us how we can stand and move into and through our lives and worlds in life-centric, vital and re-vitalising ways, holding our healing and our harming (trauma) in balance and in harmony.

‘Ihi and ihirangaranga’ are source vibrations. ‘Orooro’ is sound. ‘Taonga Ihi Orooro’ is a Māori Sacred Sound Practice and developing body of knowledge that expresses the source vibrations of the universe. They soothe the soul, comfort and inspire the mind, and give hearts-ease to our personal-collective bodies and being.

Experience the healing power of Wānanga — a traditional Māori approach to mauri ora (healing, learning and wellbeing) that nurtures the tinana (body), inspires the hinengaro (mind), and warms the power, presence and movement of our wairua māori (natural life-essence).

In this wānanga, ‘Taonga Ihi Orooro’ curate a resonant, re-vitalising, healing/learning ‘trans-forrmance’ (transformative performance) experience.

Ngā mihinunui ki a tātau, to everyone who experienced and shared in 'Te Wānanga Taonga Ihi Orooro - Māori Sacred Sound Healing' in Wairoa Sunday July 6, Ahuriri (Napier) Wednesday July 9, and attended the 'Taonga Ihi Orooro – The source and development of a wairua-centric Kaupapa Māori sacred sound healing practice' presentation at the Ngāti Kahungunu 'Ringa Rangahau Symposium' at EIT Friday 11 July.

We are in vibrantly special times.

Te Amokura has had a little rest as I completed the doctorate and re-oriented more towards re-emerging wairua-centric, mauri-informed knowings, knowledge and wānanga practices.

Te Wānanga Wairua Māori

At this time of renewal Te Amokura is re-launching as 'Te Wānanga Wairua Māori'. The primary aim of ‘Wairua Māori’ is to inspire and advance Māori/Indigenous and all people’s healing and wellbeing through the provision of wairua-centric, mauri-informed wānanga (safe and sacred healing/learning emergence spaces), and services for people, whānau and groups.

‘Wairua Māori’ offers a range of integrated wānanga services, including:
• Taonga Ihi Orooro Trans-formance – Māori sacred sound healing transformative performance
• Mirimiri Ihi-Orooro – holistic healing through sacred sound and bodywork
• Wānanga Wairua Māori – ‘spiritually’ grounded wānanga for personal and collective healing, mentoring, supervision, retreats, and workshops
• Kaupapa Māori Research, Consultancy, and Publications – academic, cultural, and subject matter expertise
• Supervision and mentoring – Tikanga guided, wairua-centric, mauri-informed wānanga in person and online

A ‘Wairua Māori Wānanga Series’ is being offered in Takitimu related areas across July and August. More details to follow.
