Trainee Pharmacy Technician – Community Pharmacy
About the Role
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Trainee Pharmacy Technician to join our friendly community pharmacy team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys helping people, working as part of a team, and learning new skills in a busy but supportive environment. Full training will be provided while you work towards a recognised qualification.
What You’ll Be Doing
• Supporting the pharmacist and pharmacy team with the safe preparation of prescriptions
• Using pharmacy computer systems to process prescriptions and manage stock
• Helping keep the pharmacy organised, accurate, and running smoothly
• Providing a professional, friendly service to patients and customers
• Managing tasks in a busy environment, including handling frequent interruptions
• Assisting with stock ordering, deliveries, and stock rotation
• Following pharmacy procedures and maintaining patient confidentiality
Training and Development
• Full on-the-job training provided
• Support to complete a recognised Pharmacy Technician training programme
• Ongoing guidance and supervision from experienced pharmacy professionals
What We’re Looking For
• A positive attitude and willingness to learn
• Good attention to detail and a responsible approach to work
• Comfortable using computers and learning new systems
• Ability to stay calm, organised, and focused in a fast-paced environment
• Friendly, reliable, and able to work well as part of a team
• Good communication and customer service skills
Experience and Qualifications
• Minimum NCEA Level 2 in English and Mathematics (or equivalent)
• No previous pharmacy experience required — we’re happy to train the right person
• This position would suit a school leaver or someone at the start of their career.

• A police/background check may be required in line with community pharmacy and safeguarding standards
• Must have the right to work and study in New Zealand.
