Dawn Parkinson - Celebrant

Dawn Parkinson - Celebrant I'm a down to earth fully trained celebrant able to officiate weddings & funerals and all other life celebrations. Happy to travel throughout NZ.

Also a member of CANZ - Celebrants Association of New Zealand I am a local celebrant who has lived in Marton since June 2005, having moved from England with my Husband Alan. During 2015, I attended the Celebrant School for Celebrants which is located in Auckland. I am so glad that I attended this course as it gave me the background knowlege to become a celebrant. I have 3 children, Sam, Sophie and Thomas who like to keep me on my toes with lots of after school activities.

2012 to 2021 I became a volunteer with 1st Marton Scout Group. Becoming the Assistant Group Leader, Acting Kea Leader, Treasurer, Grants Officer, Hall Monitor and chief fundraiser!

2021 saw me move to Feilding Scout Group as their Kea Leader as sadly due to lack of leaders 1st Marton Scout Group had to close, by the beginning of 2022 I also became their Assistant Group Leader. By the end of 2022, I became the Group Leader of Feilding Scout Group. I am also the administrator for my husbands self employed electrical business.

It was an honour to be with a family this morning as they said goodbye to a much-loved dad, grandad, and great-grandad. The room was full of family and friends sharing happy memories and laughter. The sun even came out as he was laid to rest, reunited at last with his late wife. Rest in Peace T.

A year ago, I stood with this family as they said their first difficult goodbye. Today, I had the privilege of joining them once more in Levin to inter the ashes of a much-loved daughter, mum, and friend.

It was a beautiful morning filled with heartfelt poems and balloons drifting into the sky—a true celebration of a life that clearly meant the world to so many. Honoured to play a small part in her journey home.

This afternoon a beautiful couple married in front of their family with the sun shining as they exchanged vows and rings. Despite the music failing, they walked down the aisle to cheers, claps and woo hoos

I'm taking part again in this years Relay For Life - Manawatu with my son Thomas and his friend Luke. For the past few years we have taken part as we remember my mum - Helen who passed away because of cancer at the age of 62yrs young and my father in law - Michael. Several of my friends have also taken on and beaten cancer. Thomas, Luke and I would be very grateful for any donations big or small.

My Story

I am a celebrant who has lived in Marton, Rangitkei since June 2005, having moved from England with my Husband Alan. During 2015, I attended the Celebrant School for Celebrants which is located in Auckland. I am so glad that I attended this course. It gave me invaluable information for my role as a celebrant, regarding not only the legalities side of the role, but also the many roles a celebrant has. I am a member of the Celebrants’ Association of New Zealand Inc - CANZ, which provides me with a code of ethics to abide by and also opportunities for professional development.

I have 3 children, Sam, Sophie and Thomas who like to keep me on my toes, all of whom were born in Palmerston North, here in New Zealand. Also I am the treasurer of our local scout group - 1st Marton Scout Group and as my husband is a self employed electrician, I help him with his business too.
