If you are wondering why dentistry is so expensive, this is part of the problem. To practice in dentistry, one MUST hold a practicing certificate. For a dental hygienist, this has cost over $1000, which includes an unexpected bill that must be paid six months after the registration fees. The therapist's fees are even higher, yet it is $950 for a doctor. I previously raised this issue with a local MP who was a doctor, and his response was to vote out the dental council members. However, here is the shocking truth: unlike the Medical Council, the Dental Council of New Zealand is not run in tgat way, making them untouchable and uncontrollable. Please sign the petition and support an audit. Thank you.
