🌟 Supporting the future of Nurse Practitioners in Aotearoa 🌟

We are a consortium of six leading primary health organisations, consisting of ProCare, Mahitahi Hauora, Pegasus Health, Pinnacle Health, Tū Ora Compass Health, and WellSouth Community, delivering the Nurse Practitioner Training Support Scheme (NPTSS) across Aotearoa.

NPTSS supports registered nurses through their final year of Master of Nursing training and into practice as Nurse Practitioners (Matanga tapuhi).

What does this mean?
✅ Support for 180 nurses each year
✅ 120 places in primary and community care
✅ 60 places in specialist settings (including mental health & ED)
✅ Funding, mentoring and clinical supervision
✅ Open to eligible nurses working anywhere across the motu.

NPTSS also recognises and supports the clinicians who mentor and train the next generation of Nurse Practitioners – because growing our workforce takes a team.

📣 Applications for 2027 will open later this year for eligible nurses.

Together, we’re expanding capacity, strengthening primary care, and improving health outcomes for our communities.

World Immunisation Week (24–30 April)

World Immunisation Week highlights how vaccines protect people of all ages from serious, preventable diseases.

🌍 This year’s theme: For every generation, vaccines work
Vaccines have kept whānau and communities safe for generations and continue to protect our future. With flu season underway, it’s a great reminder to check that you and your whānau are up to date with recommended vaccinations.

By staying protected, we’re helping care for ourselves, our tamariki, our whānau, and our wider community. Talk to your GP to book in today.

📢 Have your say on accessible housing in Tai Tokerau!

The Whangārei Accessible Housing Trust is applying for government funding to build more affordable, accessible homes in Northland.

To support their application, they need to hear from the community about:

🏠 Where accessible homes are most needed
📐 What size homes are required
♿ The level of disability and accessibility needs

If you’re disabled, support someone who is, or work in the disability sector, your voice really matters.

Your feedback will help strengthen the case for more accessible housing in our region.
