Since launching in 2015, the Kai Ora Fund has grown stronger every year. Now in its tenth year, we’re proud to have supported 47 new projects in 2025, distributing over $180,000 to selected recipients in Te Tai Tokerau.

From the Cape to Kaiwaka, these projects are sprinkled through the region - many in rural areas, where accessing nourishing, local, and affordable kai can be a real challenge.

Here’s to a decade of supporting our community-led food initiatives! 🌱

It’s Measles Immunisation Week! 🛡️

Measles is highly contagious - but the good thing is it’s also preventable. This week is all about making sure our communities are protected.

✅ The MMR vaccine (measles, mumps, rubella) is free for anyone under 18 and for those eligible for free healthcare. Two doses of the MMR vaccine provide 99% of people with protection against measles.

📍 Drop-in clinics are running in many places across the country - no appointment needed.

📍 Many pharmacists and GP clinics offer MMR immunisation.

👶 Not sure if your child is immunised? Now’s the time to check.

📲 Visit info.health.nz/immunisations/immunisation-clinics for local drop-in clinics near you. Note that not every part of NZ has drop-in clinics running, but lots of pharmacies are providing MMR.

📲 Visit healthpoint.co.nz for MMR providers around the country, including pharmacies.

📲 Book a vaccine online at: info.health.nz/bookavaccine

Te Tai Tokerau residents aged 58 and 59 can now take part in free bowel screening.

See below for more info, call 0800 924 432 or email: info@bowelscreening.health.nz

People in Northland, Auckland and the South Island can now take part in free bowel screening from the age of 58 (previously 60). People turning 58 or 59, or who are already 58 or 59 in those areas don’t need to do anything. They will be mailed their bowel screening kit around their next birthday.

The lower starting age will be introduced in the rest of Aotearoa New Zealand from March next year.

Bowel screening is free, quick and easy, and can help find cancer early, when it can often be successfully treated.
