I had so many profound yoga "firsts" experiences in my 1st Shadow Yoga class, even though I had been a student of yoga for years, and just returned from travels in India, attending yoga classes most days.
These Yoga 1sts were a catalyst to much positive change, physically, mentally and spiritually for me, enhancing my life beyond measure.
*Cultivate from one step to another.
*A warmup of your joints first in a circular motion.
*Foot & ankle work - making changes in our body from the feet up
*Squatting - it's important! Strengthening the bones in our legs, removing obstruction, enhancing digestion, blood & breathing.
*Strengthen and use our bones.
*Co-ordinate the rhythm of movement and breath together. *Meditate on the sound of your breath.
*Harmonize the movements of the upper and lower body together with the length of your breath.
*Relax your Kidneys!
*Tongue placement - the tongue being the bridge between the physical and subtle bodies.
*Relax the top of your shoulders - if they are tense, so is your forehead, the front, thinking brain.
*Marma Points & other Hatha Yoga anatomy maps brought to life in practice.
This class was a humbling over gratifying experience & by far the hardest class I had ever attended, with the simplest movements. It both made complete sense to me, & "rattled my brain". I am grateful the message from "deep within" was clear. You need to keep doing this!
And so, my journey towards Yoga & Meditation began 🌼
