This not a sympathy post.
These are massage hands working hard since I got back from Thailand.
I am for the first time in 16 years; getting sore thumbs. The only thing I’m doing differently is lifting heavier weights at the gym. It could even be a menopause thing although I’m definitely out the other side of that journey and feeling strong and unf**kwithable.
To add another layer I burnt my thumb and finger on the coffee machine steamer wand … I was trying to blast a fly that landed on the bench lol.
Anyway, for self care I’m K-tape strapping on my “hands off” moments and putting my hands into an ice bucket regularly. Please bare with me if at the end of the day I decrease the length of your massage. I feel like it’s the only way to keep my flow going for me and for you.
I’d rather try and keep quality over quantity but this is my peak time so iv gotta keep going.
Everything else is good … brain, emotions, vitality, nutrition, supplements oh and hydration hydration hydration. Loving the hydration drops and powders. Game changers. green powder and CMD mineral drops.
It’s the most rewarding career but it’s also hard work looking after myself and all the people who come through my doors. I don’t want to break my body while fixing yours, so I’m using all the tried and trusted tools I know and love to keep me in the game.
Don’t get me wrong I ain’t stopping anytime soon cause massage is the love of my life and my gift changes lives.
I guess it’s an appreciation post. I appreciate you keeping me busy. I appreciate me too. See you soon … 𝘑𝘰𝘑𝘰@ 𝘉𝘭𝘶𝘦 𝘚𝘦𝘢 𝘔𝘢𝘴𝘴𝘢𝘨𝘦 𝘊𝘰𝘰𝘬𝘴

During knee replacement surgery, the infrapatellar branch of the saphenous nerve is commonly cut or disturbed, which is why many people experience numbness or altered sensation around the front and inner knee afterward.

Massage and cupping cannot reconnect a severed nerve, but they can support the body and nervous system in ways that often help sensation softly return or reorganise over time.

Here’s how they help:

• Increase circulation

Cupping and massage improve blood and lymph flow to the area, supporting tissue health and the environment nerves need to heal.

• Reduce scar and fascial restriction

Post-surgical scar tissue can tether layers of fascia and dull nerve signalling. Cupping gently lifts and separates tissues, while massage softens adhesions that may be inhibiting sensation.

• Stimulate sensory input to the brain

Even numb areas still send some signals. Gentle, varied touch (pressure, temperature, texture) helps the brain remap the knee and improve sensory awareness — a process called sensory re-education.

• Calm protective guarding

Slow, non-threatening touch tells the nervous system the area is safe. When protection eases, nerve signals can travel more freely.

People often notice tingling, warmth, buzzing, or changing sensation during or after treatment — signs the nerve is being stimulated and communication is improving.

The goal isn’t to force feeling back, but to create the right conditions for awareness, circulation, and neural communication to return at the body’s own pace.

Nerve healing is gradual — and gentle input makes the biggest difference.

Id like to take a moment of appreciation for my fellow employee, 2.I.C. , Chief Soundscape Artist and all round cool chick Kaya.
If you have been a client here in the past you would have shared in the privilege of a wee greeting as you walk through the doors of our studio and also a wee boop on the nose as your settling yourself face down on the table.
Kaya then settles on her bed once she knows you’re comfortable and proceeds to snore and bubble away in the background, creating a relaxing atmosphere all by herself for the next hour.
So many clients love her and always comment on how the cacophony that she produces helps them relax.
For me, my studio doesn’t feel complete without my little chocolate Staffy by my side. She has been my constant companion for 14years.
Who knows how much time we have left together, so everyday I treasure.
My little right-hand girl
My stinky-butty
My Sherman-jerman
My faffy-waffy
I love you to bits, every little inch of your rollypolly belly and your triple-beat tail to your little white chin whiskers …. My best friend forever.
love Mumma 🐶💝

VOUCHERS FOR CHRISTMAS … details at the end ⬇️⬇️⬇️
Gift buying is in FULL effect right now. Tabs are open on your ph, carts loaded, “shipping cutoff” panic is creeping in, and somehow you have to smile and be joyful through it all.
So heres JoJos gentle loving reminder, the best gift doesn’t come in a box or sit under your tree. Know what it is?????? ….

ITS YOUR HEALTH

Because the most meaningful thing you can give the people you love is you, present, energized, clear-headed, patient, joyful. The best version of yourself. And that starts with a healthy strong body and a healthy positive mindset.
So yep, buy the gifts. Wrap the things. Do the festive stuff. But don’t disappear in the Christmas chaos hype!!
Keep it simple this season:
Eat real food, s**t from your garden, raw stuff, fresh fruit, I know our passionfruit is going to be another winner this year. Build your plate around protein and plants. Swap the
“holiday sugar spiral” for something that actually loves you back. Go for a walk on the beach after you’ve pigged out. Lift something heavy a couple times a week. Get outside. Into the sun. Protect your sleep like it’s a non-negotiable meeting. And prioritize the kind of connection that fills your nervous system back up.
Your health is the foundation for everything else you want to give.
And that is the one gift that lasts long after all the boxes have been recycled.
Buy yourself a voucher or book yourself in with my BOOK NOW button in my bio.
Grab a voucher for your friends or family for Christmas with 3 options available: $75, $85, $105 sessions.
Vouchers are available from me directly or there’s an online payment voucher option on the booking system too.
Otherwise call or txt JoJo on 022-682-5500
Merry Christmas 🎄💝🪬💎

Releasing the Diaphragm & Mid Back with Cupping

So many of us live with tight, shallow breath without realising it.
Stress, long hours sitting, emotional holding, and even old injuries can cause the diaphragm and mid-back to get “stuck.” When that happens, the breath can’t move freely… and neither can you.

This is where cupping becomes a powerful tool. 🫁✨

By placing cups along the ribcage, diaphragm attachments, and mid-thoracic area, we gently lift the tissues, create space, and encourage movement where the body has been bracing.
This isn’t about force — it’s about inviting the breath to open.

Benefits of diaphragm + mid-back cupping:
• Expands the ribcage and improves breath capacity
• Reduces tension around the solar plexus
• Supports nervous system regulation
• Helps unwind stubborn mid-back tightness
• Can ease stress, anxiety, and emotional holding
• Improves posture by freeing the front + back line of the body

When the diaphragm softens, the whole body follows.
Breath becomes fuller.
The spine moves more freely.
The nervous system drops into safety.

Your body is always trying to breathe you back into balance — sometimes it just needs a little help creating space.

✨ Curious to experience this in your next session? Just let me know.

The best way I can explain it is this:

If you think of your muscles/fascia like a newspaper on a table that has had water poured all over it.
The pages get sticky and glued together.
Those are adhesions/knots.
With traditional massage therapy, we press down into the newspaper and then slide across the grain to try and separate the sticky pages from each other.
With cupping, we create a vacuum on the surface that lifts the top page away from the one under it and away from the one under that.
Cupping is a different way that we can stimulate the tissues of the body and the nervous system to move towards less pain and better mobility.
This explanation makes it easy to understand and picture what is going on when giving/ receiving cupping during a massage!

Hope it helps!
