Hi Everyone, my clinic will be reopening tomorrow the 8th of September for face to face consults 😀. Please contact me if you would like an appointment by phone or text 0211054686 or you can message me on here. I am now full this week but have space next week. Due to covid you will be screened twice........ at time of booking and also on arrival at the clinic. If you are at all unwell or are isolating waiting a covid test result etc it is important that you phone/txt and reschedule your appointment. There will be hand sanitiser to use on entry and exit, please scan in and a register will also be kept and wear a mask. There will be lots of extra cleaning. If you are at higher risk if you developed covid (over 70 years of age, have other medical conditions) please phone/txt to discuss appointment options and we will work through it together, so you can make an informed choice. Telehealth is still available. I look forward to seeing you ☺️

▶️Running Injuries & Training
Great post by :
"This figure highlights some key considerations for runners. This is especially relevant with many runners changing or increasing training during lockdown.
👉Running injuries are very common. Why? Well many reasons, including the repetitive nature of running. However, one of the single biggest factors impacting on running injuries is the training load. This can include the volume (e.g. total running volume, session volume) and the intensity (this can include the speed, hills etc). The running equipment (e.g. shoes) can also impact. The key to avoiding injuries is to have smooth, planned transitions. Rapid changes in runner’s training, including rapid increases AND rapid decreases can have big impacts. The decreases be come a factor when looking at total training load, and returning back to normal training levels.

Just to let you all know I am back in force in the clinic face to face in level 1 :). I am still screening people and keeping a register and cleaning more frequently, but I am much closer to practicing normally. PS I promise not to harass you too much if you haven't done your HEP ;) ! moderate exercise appears to have a protective effect on joint cartilage :)

"🔎Relatively recent research demonstrating a mechanism through which exercise may work to reduce the risk of osteoarthritis. This study fits nicely with others showing that moderate exercise appears to have a protective effect on joint cartilage.
-
🧠In this study (cited below), researchers subjected chondrocytes (cartilage cells) to mechanical loading, which activated the HDAC6 protein and lead to a suppression of inflammatory signaling.
-
🏋🏼‍♂️Often times, I run into people who worry that exercise will damage their joints. Hopefully, this research will change this belief and help others understand that loading their joints through moderate doses of exercise can positively influence cartilage health and reduce the risk of developing arthritis.

it is so normal for knees to be noisy :)

"🎯A great illustration from that helps address a very common clinical misconception about the relationship between knee joint noise (crepitus) and the development of pathology.
-
🤕Almost every day in the clinic, I meet someone who is concerned about a noise that their body is making. The knee is one of the most common areas of concern as the joint behind our kneecap (patellofemoral joint) commonly makes popping and clicking noises.
-
🧠It is extremely important that people understand that noises from the knee are usually not associated with pathology and may actually be a sign of a healthy, well-lubricated joint. let’s be careful not to make people feel bad about their knee noise as it can negatively influence how they view their body!
-
✅So, if your knees are noisy and you don’t have pain, don’t worry about them. The noise is most likely due to the movement of fluid behind the kneecap and is not an indicator of a developing joint problem.

Hi everyone :)
Thank you for liking my page.
Just to let you know under level 3 lockdown we are still only able to see clients primarily through telehealth. There is the odd exception under urgent but the criteria is very, very, very strict.
Currently I am mainly using Zoom, where I send you a link. It is very easy to use and while not having the hands on component, it is working well 😊.
Let me know if you would like an appt 👍
I will update you again on face to face availability when we swap levels.
Take Care our there
