Winton Pharmacy was first established in 1907 by Thomas Walker, and is now owned by
Michelle and Geoff Carleton. Michelle and Geoff originally owned Carletons Pharmacy in Otautau and in 1999 purchased Winton Pharmacy.They ran both business's until 2003, when unable to find a Pharmacist to work in Otautau,they converted it to a Depot Pharmacy and dispensed those prescriptions from Winton. Having brought up children and lived most of their adult lives in Otautau , we have a commitment to give as great a service as we can to the people of Western and Central Southland. Our philosophy is simple, "treat everyone equally, and with the respect we would expect if we were the customer." Our Purpose:
To provide better health outcomes for the community

We will be closed for the Easter break from April 3rd-6th.

If you need prescriptions or essentials, please make sure you pop in before we close.

We will be open Tuesday 7th April for emergency prescriptions - 9.30-12.30

Winton Pharmacy is pleased to offer funded influenza vaccinations from the 1st of April 2026, helping protect the community ahead of the winter season. The flu vaccine is free for eligible people, including those aged 65 and over and individuals at higher risk of serious illness. Convenient and accessible, vaccinations are available in-store with advice from trained pharmacy staff, supporting better health outcomes for the wider Southland community.

🍂 Why do joints sometimes hurt more in Autumn? 🍂

As the weather cools down, many people notice their joints becoming stiffer, more painful, tender or achy.

A few factors may contribute:

❄️ Cooler temperatures can cause muscles and tissues around joints to tighten, leading to stiffness
🌧 Changes in air pressure may make joint discomfort feel more noticeable for some people
🛋 Less movement during colder months can also lead to reduced flexibility and stiffer joints

The good news?

There are ways to support your joints through the cooler months - from staying active and keeping warm to using joint support supplements, topical creams and anti-inflammatory options.
