It’s been a busy week of birthdays, but our lucky last, Bill, celebrated his with us today 💛

An adventurer at heart, Bill always has a story to tell and a laugh to go with it. He has a great love for the outdoors and fell in love with Fortrose on one of our bus trips. Happy Birthday Bill ☺️

Myles’ cheekiness, energy around the home, and love of interacting with every person who walks through our doors, makes it hard to believe that he turned 67 today! We feel privileged to have shared your special day with you ✨💛

And Myles has a birthday twin! Our beautiful Sheina celebrated her 30th birthday today. We hope you had an amazing day, you are such an amazing part of the team and we love you ✨

It’s always an adventure when we take the big red bus out, and today was definitely that 😅🚌

We all loaded up in the bus, off to our favourite spot, Riverton. We headed up to Mores Reserve and enjoyed the beautiful scenery in front of us ☀️🌊 next stop was fish and chips, that was until the boss realised one of the tyres had gone flat 🤣

So we changed gears and headed to Invercargill. Grabbed some fish and chips from Waikiwi chip shop, and struck gold! 🌟

An amazing man from All Tyres (who looked like he was on his way home to enjoy his Saturday afternoon), came to our rescue and changed the tyre on the spot! Whilst he worked hard on our tyre, we worked hard on finishing our lunch 🍟

All in all it was an amazing, eventful, adventure out, and everyone went home smiling and full of stories 💛 Thank you All Tyres!!

🍗 We hope your Southland Anniversary was as awesome as ours - check out what we got up to🤩

Whilst the boss was busy prepping lunch, we had a group discussion about Southland and some of the places that meant a lot to us, it was a great conversation starter 💙

Then the boss really spoilt us with a delicious BBQ lunch! Safe to say most of the residents went back for seconds (and a few thirds 🤭)

Finally, after everyone was full and content, I took a couple of our guys for a lovely wee drive. One of our guys, Chris, had been a student at Lochiel School and was amazed to see the changes. A quick visit to Forrest Hill, tiki toured through Hokonui and then we slowly made our way home 🚗

🐣 HAPPY EASTER 🐣

Today Gemma spent time creating Easter fun with the residents, and her little bunny helpers came in and gave everyone a sweet treat 🍫

Everyone tucked into a beautiful lamb roast lunch, and had a wonderful Easter together 💛

Callum was out picking grapes from our greenhouse today 🍇

We spent the afternoon making lavender sachets from freshly cut and dried lavender 💜

The smell through the home was unreal.

A massive thank you to the Student Volunteer Army from Limehills school, who surprised us with a yummy donation of Rhubarb muffins yesterday 😍

Our residents loved eating these for afternoon tea, and it was even better that they were still warm and fresh from the oven 💛

Such an amazing bunch of kids doing amazing things for our community!

🌿 Meet the Team – Sophie (Our One-of-a-Kind Cook!) 🍰🎤

If you’ve ever walked past the kitchen and heard laughter… chances are Sophie is on shift 😄

Sophie has been part of the Rata Park family for 8 years, and what a huge part of the team she is. Not only does she keep everyone well-fed with her delicious home-style meals and baking, but she brings a whole lot of personality with her too.

She’s an absolute laugh, always up for a good time, and never one to miss a karaoke moment — she’s quick to head out and join in (or take lead) 🎤

And let’s not forget her iconic socks… bright, fun, and always a talking point. Honestly, they deserve their own fan club 🧦😂

Our residents adore her, our staff love her, and Rata Park just wouldn’t be the same without her.

Did you make it down to the multicultural food festival? 🤩 We did!

The residents loved all the amazing food options and were blown away by the performances. Definitely a must do event if you didn’t make it this year 💛
