We provide a 5-bedroom Young Persons Unit alongside our 20-bed care wing

We are a 25 bed Care Home situated 3kms from the Winton township providing a wonderful rural environment, we care for young adults from the age of 16 years old to our centenarians. Set on 4 acres and surrounded by farmland, we are a 20 bed resthome situated 3kms from the Winton township providing a wonderful rural environment with a dedicated team of staff. We offer long and short term care for young and old as well as respected end of life palliative care. Our activities and outings are many and varied and we strive to
accommodate individual resident’s interests and preferences as much as possible. Owners Darren and Vicky, both registered nurses, live on site with their children, providing a real family atmosphere they would love to share with you.

🎄 Christmas at Rata Park 🎄

As we head into the festive season, we’d love to invite our wonderful community to be part of making Christmas extra special for our residents.

If you would like to donate a gift for our residents’ Christmas, it would be greatly appreciated.

No pressure at all — just a chance to spread a little extra joy to some very deserving people.

⭐️ Welcome to our - MEET THE TEAM - we have an amazing team working hard behind the scenes, and we will start introducing these lovely people each week ⭐️

This week we’re proud to introduce Caney, our amazing Senior HCA and YPD Unit Manager, who has been part of the Rata Park whānau for the past two years.

Caney is the definition of steady, capable care. She brings strength, compassion, and calm into every shift, and she’s the person you’ll always find stepping in, supporting others, and making sure our residents feel safe, respected, and genuinely cared for. Nothing is ever too big or too small for her to tackle 💛

We are incredibly lucky to have her guiding our YPD unit and supporting our whole team every day 💪

Road trip day for our crew — and what a beauty it was! 🚐☀️

We took the big red bus for a spin down to Fortrose for lunch, then headed out to Waipapa Point to check out the lighthouse and soak up that stunning weather ☀️

Ice creams in Motuaka? Absolutely.
Waves from strangers as we cruised through Invercargill? You bet — the red bus was a hit!

Lots of laughs, lots of smiles, lots of sunshine.
Days like this are exactly why we love getting out and about with our residents ❤️✨

Blowing bubbles is absolutely not just for kids, give it a go, the nostalgia is worth it 🫧
Then a bit of bounce back paddle and some ever so slightly competitive games of badminton (it may have been the staff that got competitive) 😂

We are deeply saddened to share the passing of our dear Bruce McKenzie, who passed away peacefully at Rata Park on the 8th of November 2025.

Bruce was a truly lovely man — gentle, kind, and full of quiet humour. He had a way of brightening our days, and his presence will be deeply missed by residents and staff alike.

It has been our absolute privilege to care for Bruce and to be part of his journey. Our love and thoughts are with his wife Linda, and children Greg, Simon, and Roselind, during this difficult time 💛🕊️
